I occasionally remember that former roommates accidentally ganked a box of my kitchen stuff when they were grabbing their things from the storage of the townhome we rented, at the end of our lease. I was so and mad that my baker grandfather’s biscuit cutters were gone forever.

Just wanted to pop in and say that we can now safely add today as another worst day in my life, and leave it at that. I will always try to make things better. Always. And while my urge to have the Earth swallow me down to its molten magma core is intense, I still exist and intend to go on doing so

In other news, I took three trips to the larger garbage dumpster in my building to get rid of cardboard. My place feels more put together without that crap in the way. There’s still more trips to do, but I didn’t want to bogart trash space from dozens of neighbors.

I got to see Boot on Friday! I haven’t seen him in weeks and weeks, but there was one address update I had forgotten to change over when I moved, so Doug called me that afternoon letting me know a courier was delivering something to my old place. Boot came out onto the porch and looked stunned. ♥️

The worst part of having mental health issues is that you're seemingly required to have a breakdown in order for people to understand how hard you were trying to hold yourself together

Just set off my smoke detector for the first time. I was trying to recondition my cast iron skillet. A broken down cardboard box fanned aggressively at the detector finally got it quiet, ha. Then, turned the stove off. I might have to get out the box fan next time and position airflow better.

Trans people are constantly asked to treat their full and equal rights as human beings as something LESS than absolute, something LESS than a red line. "Oh sure he's bad on the trans stuff but he's good on other policies!" It is obscene.

OK, finished up the projection designs today. One of the bigger showstopper cues turned out much simpler than I had intended. I felt guilty hitting send on the demo mp4 I sent to the director earlier today. But she wrote back “*happy tears*”, so I think we’re good. :)

At the theater tonight for a Q2Q, since I designed the slides for the projections. It’s slow work but going okay. I’m shocked I was able to get as much delivered, given how crappy things have been. I could have done a better job, but I did do a good job. I think. I still have more work to do.

I like this Japanese artist that hand paints vintage American clothes. He turns things such as vintage hunting jackets into “animal appreciation” jackets using motifs that celebrate animals. Some of his stuff is currently up for sale at Maiden's Shop in Tokyo. IG takuro917 and maidens_shop

Been languishing like some lady of leisure, painfully floating from room to room in my home, nursing a headache that will not heed ibu, Tylenol, water, anti-anxiety meds, eye massager mask, and a nap. Turns out I never had my coffee this morning. Sure, it’s almost 4pm, but the caffeine kicked it.

This is how it’s done
In April 2023, Wachowski told Them in an interview that one of the focuses of the current phase of her career was mentoring up-and-coming trans talent.
Calling mentorship a "means of resisting empire," she added, "Mentorship, and the connectivity it creates, disarms empire and capitalism by bringing us together as part of the same fabric."

Do Gooder Derogation is a term I learned today, and it makes me feel marginally better about the wholly weird-ass and hostile justifications I get from people when I’m masking & speaking to them normally. Spoiler alert: I’ve never been hassled by a stranger. I’m talking about friends/family.

Stop policing abuse victims on their responses to their abusers. If you want more queer kids to stay in touch with their parents, then those parents need to treat their queer kids better. The mundane acceptability of homophobia and pressuring your kids to stay closeted needs to be annihilated.

Last week I had drove 4 hrs, shot 2723 shots over 7 hours with 2 cameras, hardly slept, then drove back to LA, had a dentist and doctor's appointment Worth it This is the Perseids Meteor Shower over the Milky Way in Mt Pinos with 100s of my newest friends 🌌 PDFs: drive.google.com/drive/u/0/fo...
A foreground of dozens of cars, including a camper right in the middle, and someone on the right side with their parking lights on, in front of a mountain and trees. above that is the milky way with air pollution which fades into a larger star field, that looks like old pictures of space. That star field was taken with a nikon lens from the 70s so it gives a different sense, and the milky way was taken with a new 20mm lens, 14 shots, merged. the retro sky is 2 shots. there are 14 meteors that mostly focus on the center of the picture, but these aren't where they were in the sky. I shot 8 to 10 different areas of the sky that night. All meteors but one were with my new camera and new lens.

The Milky Way has a flare on the stars due to moisture on my camera lens, which I kept given the chaos of the situation. It took me 50 minutes to capture 14 usable milky way pictures because so many people had car lights on. 60 second exposures on the milky way, tracked in move shoot move, 10-15 seconds on the meteors.

This took about 8 hours to edit.

Milky way light pollution processed in GraXpert, foreground stitched in lightroom, milky way stitched in Kolor Autopano Giga, saturated and recolored in lightroom; everything finalized in photoshop, including the meteors. In total 19 layers and about 33 final shots used of the original 2723.

Another terrible and stressful day, so I will tell you I’m stretched out in my hammock on my balcony, eating cinnamon Belvita, playing games on my phone, and there is an ensemble in the park next door playing jazz standards. They’re REALLY GOOD. The horn section is flawless. FLAWLESS

One of the funniest new home moments I had after moving in was opening up one of the kitchen island cabinets and moving the pot lid holder the previous owner had left behind, only to discover it was holding up the interior shelf, which immediately fell down. What a shady thing to do. :)

Started feeling anxious and sad, and I remembered that I had bought myself a solo board game to warm my own home, so I unboxed that and played a game. The game is called A Gentle Rain. I played badly on my first try, but I’m immediately going to play again. It’s definitely calming. Sweet. Hopeful.
Board game pieces are laid out on a dark wood coffee table. They depict lake water with blooming lilies of different colors. Dragonflies and fish and turtles decorate the murky green tiles. At intersections molded plastic lily tokens rest where they are allowed to “bloom.” This player has only managed to place 4 of the 8 lilies before the rain has ended (all tiles placed). In the background of the photo are speaker wires curled in a messy pile, drink coasters, a carpal tunnel wrist brace.

Moving jumbles all habits. I was clearing up the last tidbits of things and had this heavy mallet hanging out with no good place to be packed in with other things. Stuck it in my backpack, and days later wondered why my pack was so danged heavy. Ha.
