My VR PC is fubared (USB on motherboard is likely culprit). While I sit considering RMAs, replacements and so on... what PC/Switch2 games can I play flat/handheld that just make no sense to play in VR? I got Dwarf Fortress and Factorio on PC and Mario Kart World lined up already.

Depending where you are you can sometimes craft your way out... Like, with a teleporter. Sometimes if you know how you got in you can get out the same point.... but otherwise, yeah, save early, safe often.

Woke up, did all the usual checks, updates, plus some bsod investigations and bug reproduction on my headset vendor's software, and probably, fingers crossed, working VR PC once again. The thought of replacing parts in this economy definitely drives motivation and builds persistence.

Several hours of pissing about later, and I confirm what I knew, as of noon today, my PC has USB ports that work with any other peripheral but HMDs (either an Index or a VR1). Both headsets work fine on other PC, but the ports are not fully working in Win10 or Ubuntu. Any suggestions while i sleep?

This thread started with racing on wheels. Here's the second VR on wheels. I played to the top PVE ranks in around 45 hours. I found EA's WRC more accessible than its predecessor. Customised my settings to suit my racing, and had a really good time as the difficulty ramped. Will be back for more.

Sticking to VR gaming offering story telling and world building, and being successful with it. I played through Ghost Town to a solid cliff hanger. A sequel would be most welcome. Really nice seeing a game set in the UK, and in the 80s! Supernatural without scares.

The Steam Frame UK price is kinda cheaper than the Index kit. I paid £689 for Index + Controllers in 2019, but I already had a pair of 2016 base stations. Even still, the full INdex package price in September 2026 compares to the base Frame price in GBP well enough.

Killing fun in a sandbox. All @frontierdev.bsky.social had to do was let in-game market events play out for a few more days in Elite Dangerous, and ignore the vocal gatekeepers expressing frustration some were making a carrier in a day. Instead it's a rug pull, comms failure and an apology. 🤦‍♂️

FDev could've sucked it up till the end of the CG, rather than a ner end correction. Prices are far from the highs of the CG market now. I'm left with 2k palladium. But I made around 15bn before the nerf. Good times.

This time also includes an internal system jump to reposition closer to the extraction station (Grzimek) and the jump to to the Ega neighbour (Dyvata). It's one way to make close to a billion an hour right now in Elite Dangerous at a mostly sustainable pace with breaks over a few sessions.

I was live streaming for most of the trips, with a bit of off-stream before and after. Time was spent chatting and heading off-track with chat for a bit. I took around 7 hours total to make 6.3bn. 5.5 hours were in space flight. Average hop of flight time of 4mins. 🧵
