Imagine if the national media covered American politics through the lens of which party actually competently staffed & governed the country when it was in power, instead of covering it as horse races, theater, & grading on a curve for the One Special Boy & the far right authoritarian party.

The option of not moving on from "this is an illegal, unconstitutional outrage that should end his presidency immediately" was available to Peter Baker & every other journalist in the country, not only in 2019, but still in 2026.

Don't. Print. Lies. In. The. Newspaper. Congress can, in fact, say the court got the Constitution wrong, on such questions as: - Should there only be 9 Wizards in Robes, or 47, or 100, or 250? - Should the Wizards have a building? Clerks? Docket control? - Should they ride the circuit? On horses?

I don't really know what to do with these pieces, because: 1. They refuse to used "illegal" & "unconstitutional" & "corruption" in the heds, deks, ledes, or body text 2. They disappear from the front page/headlines within 36 hours & never become THE NARRATIVE, contra EMAILS & BIDEN IS OLD, etc.

Again, <only Republicans> ever get to talk like this. If a single municipal level Democrat ever did, it would be a national outrage &spark a wave of “civility” discourse, & op-eds about how Dems must Respect Real Folkz & talk across difference. Democracy is incompatible with this double standard.

Once again, the imperial presidency, created by both parties since WWII, was a grave mistake. It was designed for an era that no longer exists, in which we had two normal pro-democracy political parties. It is now being weaponized by far right authoritarians & we can never do that again.

Why do white men become white nationalists? Interesting new empirical results in Nature: www.nature.com/articles/s41...
ere we show with three national surveys of non-Hispanic white adults (conducted from 2021 to 2025) that support for white nationalism is (1) higher among white people encountering personal hardship and local social distress, consistent with strain theories3,16; (2) unrelated to local racial composition or recent demographic change, complicating status threat accounts4,17,18; and (3) elevated among white people with close friendships primarily online, consistent with theories of extremism driven by online mobilization7,10,19.

The fact that it’s not going to happen is not a reason to stop talking about how it needs to happen. In fact, doing that would focus everyone’s minds on the 25 people - all Republicans - who are directly responsible for it not happening. Maybe then everyone will spend less time yelling at Democrats.
