Toronto bike lane removal. When your infrastructure project has huge police protection and the contractors hide the logos on their trucks and gear, you are in the wrong.

It is curious that the main contractor sent their sub in alone, without support & let them take the heat. But they were nowhere to be seen. If you want to know who that is: Find out why this line on the City's Road Restrictions map has no details attached to it www.toronto.ca/services-pay...

There are really only a few firms in Toronto who can do this scale of urban traffic control. Stinson/Ramudden was there for the installation. Glad to know they are not involved in the removals.

Bloor bike lane removal: Day 1
The province announced that today was the day that removal of a section of the Bloor bike lanes would start, and so the call went out to the community. The meeting point was the same place where we massed at the end of September, when we showed up 800 strong. On the way there, I see a decent number of cyclists headed to the same place.

I love how his next post is about how he’s going to get yelled at but he’s “100% right” meanwhile every reply I’ve seen is someone calmly and rationally explaining to him why he’s wrong

This person is just blatantly making shit up about Dianne Saxe, who does not live in Toronto-Danforth and has never represented Toronto-Danforth. She has very opportunistically jumped wards in a desperate effort to maintain her job on city council because she didn't want to face Mike Layton.

Reminds me of the Hallam residents who were SO angry about losing "their" street parking directly in front of their house (lots on the other side), despite having a driveway & double garage. They said it was too hard to turn their heads & reverse in/out of their driveway. You shouldn't be driving.

I talked to CityNews about how well received the Church St pedestrianization pilot was! Spoke about: - (queer) third spaces - pedestrianizing other streets, - bringing back the pilot next year (hopefully longer in length and time) - need for more flexibility + support from the city (Part 1/2)

Overwhelmingly positive response
Rodney Chan, a community advocate who brought the pedestrianization idea to Moise's attention last year, said he spoke to hundreds of people during the project's nine-week run who overwhelmingly supported the initiative.
"A lot of people have told me how much this has meant to them, and it's been really heartwarming to hear," Chan said. "Most queer spaces in the city revolve around drinking and nightlife, so having a peaceful space to go to during the day has really been welcomed by people."
Chan believes the pilot has been significant in moving the needle with regard to urban planning in the city and thinks there's potential to expand seasonal pedestrianization to other areas throughout the city.

Wow I can't believe they would put it on a sign like that

This was really well done. Sad to see it go, but glad it happened, and hope it happens again next year on a much broader scale.

In 1837, Belgian scientist Auguste de l'Ombre invented the shadow to ensure sundials worked properly. It became wildly popular as a way of shading things and people from the sun's heat and light. He gave his name to his invention.
