I'm not a great photographer; I just have a pup that throws looks like a supermodel. #dogs #dogsofbluesky
A cream-colored Chihuahua mix wearing an orange and red life jacket looks back at the camera. She is standing sideways between her owner's legs in a kayak, leaning over the edge. They are on a serene lake, the water reflecting nearby trees, hills, and fluffy clouds in the blue sky.

Monday again, eh? Meh, could be worse.
A Highland cow gazes balefully into the camera. She is standing in a green meadow, with blue chicory flowers in the foreground and hills and trees in the background.

The neighborhood deer are clearly terrified as I walk my killer chiweenie nearby.
A young doe nibbles on fallen branches under an old tree. A white fence is in the background, and she stands on a lawn bordered by a curb. She is completely uninterested in my dog or me.

Paddled the Winooski today and saw 10x as many painted turtles as people. Satisfactory!

I have to go to an optometrist appointment; it just started pouring, and I'll most likely have to parallel park on a downtown street, which I find stressful in perfect weather and no traffic. It's not a lot to complain about, but it's what I've got.

Not only is the Sports Engine Play stream absurdly bad, but when it actually works, we get Laredo's hometown, biased announcer calling a national semifinal game. He's very good, but the bias is Not Cool. Then again, the stream is usually glitching, so we can't hear him. Anyway... Up the Green!

I'm so excited that the World Cup is starting. I'm furious, disgusted, and embarrassed by how my country's current administration is... well, everything. Not only how they're handling the World Cup. That's just one of the clearly visible criminal, racist, and classist schemes they're perpetrating.

I'm painting my hallway today, a task that always brings me closer to prior residents. I recognize scuffs from bicycle tires, bashed corners from furniture moves. I find a painted-over heart drawn low on one wall... a child? Maybe the same one who left countless tire marks on the hardwood floors.

The frustration of the Albany Rush keeper was palpable as the 7th goal went past him into the net. @vermontgreenfc.bsky.social won the match 9-0. A fine first home game of the season, with perfect weather.
Near sunset, one end of a soccer field with trees, mountains, and a college building in the background. On the field, the Vermont Green players are beginning to celebrate as the Albany Rush players mill around. The Albany goalkeeper, in bright orange. lies frustrated on his back. There is a soccer ball in the net, and the barely legible scoreboard shows the game as 6-0 in the 60th minute of play.

Reading a Vermont-set mystery novel that isn't very good, but when characters traveled from beyond Vergennes to an appointment in Burlington in 20 minutes, by car, I raged. Don't get me started on BPD having jurisdiction over a murder in Addison County. UGH. Now I'm just hate-reading.

"in the street of money in the city of money in the country of money, our great country of money, we (forgive us) lived happily during the war." - Ilya Kaminsky
We Lived Happily during the War

And when they bombed other people's houses, we

protested but not enough, we opposed them but not

enough. I was in my bed, around my bed America

was falling: invisible house by invisible house by invisible house-

I took a chair outside and watched the sun.

In the sixth month of a disastrous reign in the house of money

in the street of money in the city of money in the country of money, our great country of money, we (forgive us)

lived happily during the war.

Clouds almost always thwart a promising aurora night here. We've stopped chasing the best views. And then, last night... this was the view from our dining room window in Burlington, VT.
The green glow of the aurora borealis silhouettes trees. There are some clouds, but the aurora is clearly visible, with stars in view. A lighted street can be seen at the bottom of the image.

"This book will be my magnum opus, the book that I was put on the planet too write, and the pinnacle my writing and your publishing careers."

Panel two
The agent looks over a manuscript with a neutral expression. The author continues:
"Unless you don’t like it. In which case it’s just one of a number of ideas I’m playing around with."
