As a longtime resident of York, I couldn't agree more. As well as residents, the local council ends up paying for recovery and flood prevention that shouldn't have been needed in the first place.

But why should the public purse reward the blatant exploitation of the utilities that were taken into private hands at a huge cost to the public in the first place? Why should we pay £20 billion because Thames Water has been run purely for the benefit of shareholders for years?

In Leicester? Wanna make a placard for Leicester Pride on Sunday? Come to St Luke's (Halifax Drive, LE4 2DR) on Friday afternoon and join us in the church hall. It's free, materials will be provided. So will snacks, and a ludicrous amount of tea. Should be a good afternoon.

Beautiful place. Very much a city where people live, above being a tourist town. It feels very home-y. There's a great bus service to the coast, if you want to go to San Sebastian to try the food. We stayed in a good hostel. The airport is right on the edge of town too. I really liked it there.

Do you fundraise for Amnesty? If not, now is the time, since they're being targeted. Would you be willing to go bankrupt, lose everything, if someone took a case like this against you? I'm not happy about this either, but also feel, don't expect an org to risk something you wouldn't risk yourself.

Who exactly benefits from Amnesty going bankrupt? Maybe people campaigning against the EHCR?

No - my issue is that you know what is going on here, and regardless, seem to be saying Amnesty shouldn't back down.

A disproportionate number of women are affected by diseases like this because for genetic reasons we're more prone to autoimmune diseases. A fact which takes 2 minutes to look up, but makes it a bit harder to write this kind of crap.

GP practices provided 35,000,000 appointments in June 50% more than 2019 Sadly too many in the media ignore this Many commentators refuse to accept the truth In the end GP practices will close, GPs leave & GPs will be blamed despite doing more for less year on year

It must be huge and I wonder if either whoever thought up this bright idea had friends and family in the companies tasked with doing these pointless and stressful checks, or they very cost-effectively deter genuine claimants enough to make it worthwhile.

She was brutally murdered by transphobic children. But her mum's attitude to social media - which is why I keep going on about this - is focused on her anorexia not on her being trans.

Her issues about social media aren't specifically related to trans issues but the harm caused by pro-ana influencers. It is possible for someone to be trans and have other issues going on.

A lot of people conflate her mother's concerns about social media with trans issues, but her main concern (according to her book) was the pro-ana content normalising starvation that nearly killed Brianna and put her in hospital, repeatedly, for weeks.
