Sixteen years teaching high school students and reading research papers, and the data you present feels in many ways like high schoolers trying to convince me to legalize weed in classrooms.

Yes, any new technology comes with potential gains in productivity, but I notice you leave out all environmental concerns completely (think we wouldn’t catch that?), along with the devastation of our land and neighborhoods. Add to that your dismissive way of saying that the companies SHOULD pay for their damage/the job retraining that the government will need to enact and you believe this is easily solved. Then the small amount of space you devote to the danger and morality of all of this….and buddy, high school teachers are positive you used AI to research and write this…but at least you admit that.

You forget the intense human impact of people talking to echo chamber robots, to child pornography being “legally” made by AI, of the dropping literacy rates and critical thinking skills nation wide, of the manifold horrific impacts of this technology. We build our own monsters, Shelley is ever wise. Who wants to take a bet if the writers of this article are the shareholders reaping in the profits currently?
