My son is in high-school. I keep telling him that to be a good software engineer, he needs 2 abilities: - Reasoning (math, obviously) - To read and write prose; to express his ideas and thoughts with words, efficiently. This has always been true, and will remain so.

With MSW 3.0 released this week, I want to try something new to make the project financially sustainable. I wrote an open letter about the project, its history, and impact on the ecosystem. I ask for five minutes of your time to read it. Thank you. mswjs.io/sponsor

There’s a strong correlation between a lack of touch typing skills and sending confusing messages without proper commas.

This year, I'd like to see what I can do to improve financial stability of MSW. Governments, banks, and Fortune 500 companies are all using my work while it's one sponsor cancellation away from me not being able to work on it at all. This has to change.

Switched to iPhone about a month ago but still haven’t figured out the direction to swipe to go back. Swipe to go back in Pixel is simple and consistent regardless of the app context.

Did you know your MacBook has a sensor that knows the exact angle of the screen hinge? It’s not exposed as a public API, but I figured out a way to read it and make it sound like an old wooden door.

Considering children are the future and the future tax payers, $2000 child tax credit seems very low compared to the cost of raising a child and the opportunity cost for the parents.
