Chaos Ending
On a summer evening in the kingdom of Asgarnia, tenth year of the Sixth Age of Gielinor, the epilogue of a grand adventure neared its end as the setting sun approached the horizon of the Middle Sea. A great weight had been lifted from the land, halting a race for power that signified the turning of an age, diverting the fate of a cyclical universe to a new destiny.
Zamorak, the God of Chaos, had been defeated and cast out from Gielinor. The governing Edicts of Guthix, God of Balance, had been reestablished. The eggs of the Elder Gods – creators of the universe itself – were removed from their Gielinorean cradle to hatch on another world, staying their consumption of all that existed. No divine being could again set foot on Gielinor and the progeny of the Elder Gods were stunted, saving the world from once more falling victim to the destructive interference of Elder and Ascendant gods alike.
Yet, from the commoner’s perspective amidst the tranquility of the outskirts of Falador City, things in Gielinor might as well have been business as usual. The sun shone no less warmly across the scattered harvest fields than it had the day before, nor did the birds chirp any more merrily upon their perches in the morning to come. In fact, the evening might have been entirely unremarkable, save for the seasonally common beauty of the hour as brilliant oranges and pinks crept into the darkening heavens.
But, amongst the flitting shadows of sparrows and starlings that swarmed high in the trees and in the tall places abandoned by local folk, a shape stood out, disturbing the apparent normalcy of the summer evening.
An adventurer, roused with triumph but laden with grief, scaled a lofty and hastily conceived magical tower; an immense vertical archipelago of floating earthen islands raised from the ground below to look down on the serenity of the countryside. Curious and out-of-place, the landmark loomed high above the old growth yew and ash that dotted the landscape-
