Quick advert time ... I'm off on tour with my mates in the Gigspanner Big Band this week to kick off our summer dates. f not a gloriously sunny festival, then I'm reliably assured that it will be a lovely air-conditioned theatre or thick-walled ancient church!!! Ticket links johnspiers.co.uk/shows

A picture of the Gigspanner Big Band playing live with prominent banjo, slide guitar, melodeon and Peter Knight singing. The text reads: "The kind of re-enchantment which only comes from top-class musicians with a deep understanding of their material. Simply remarkable" 5 stars from R2 magazine. Tour dates 7th July Oxford Playhouse, 8th July Stroud Sub Rooms, 9th July Hailsham Pavilion, 10th July Deal Arts Festival, 11th July The Cut Halesworth, 12th July Ely Folk Festival, 5th August Sidmouth Folk Week.
