Ohio man jailed for texting Shrek’s penis to a state senator. Your questions about Shrexting, answered.
An Ohio blogger spent 23 hours in jail after texting a senator a crude Shrek meme. Can political mockery be prosecuted? The First Amendment weighs in.

Apropos nothing in particular, some questions you can ask your company's leadership when you have an open Q&A about AI (and LLMs in particular). 1) How is our company defending our intellectual property when copyright around documentation and code written by LLMs is on shaky footing?

Dolly Parton is one of a small set of celebs who I believe were legitimately good people, who inspired others to be better than they were today. Her passing will be deeply felt by many, and I hope her inspiration continues well into the future.

In brief: (1) trans rights are human rights, (2) money should be out of politics, not welcomed, (3) Humphrey's Executor should be enforced for all (semi-)independent agencies, without a special carve-out for the Fed, (4) Wong Kim Ark should have been defended 9-0, not 5-4.

The submissions for the new Massachusetts seal, flag and motto are up, and my friends, they are a *trip* www.mass.gov/doc/massachu...
An image of a proposed redesign for the Massachusetts flag: it is a photo collage with a huge Dunkin Donuts at the center with the Harvard "Veritas" seal on the front of the building and a huge lobster plush doll walking out the front of it. The enormous smiling head of Governor Maura Healey rises up from behind the building, with heart-shaped sunglasses pasted over her eyes. Three bros in the lower left of the photo are raising a toast in red Solo cups, and in the lower right a (possibly drunk) young white person wearing a white T-shirt and sunglasses is waving a huge rainbow flag and wearing a rainbow boa. The word "MASSACHUSETTS" appears in the upper right in enormous pink-sprinkled letters in the Dunkin Donuts font.

Terminal 1 of SFO has an exhibit on women in Afrofuturism, including a prominent section on Octavia Butler (and other authors she inspired). Very cool!
An exhibit on Octavia Butler in a broader exhibit in Terminal 1 of San Francisco Airport on women in Afrofuturism. There are several books of Butler's, a typewriter she used, and books by more recent authors she inspired, such as Nalo Hopkinson, N. K. Jemisin, and Nnedi Okorafor. In the back is a large, colorful, stylized portrait of Butler.

This has interesting implications for two-party consent states: Is AI "awareness" of its surroundings tantamount to recording? (Functionally, in order for it to be useful, it would have to be, I would think.) Thankfully, I'm in California, which requires my consent. For now.
