In @nytopinion.nytimes.com “The superpowers share an interest in preventing superhuman A.I. models from causing havoc, as China’s leaders clearly recognize,” Sebastian Mallaby writes. “However difficult U.S.-China coordination, the consequences of not coordinating make it essential to try.”

Typographical error

Due to a typing error, Saturday's story on local artist Jon Henninger mistakenly reported that Henninger's band mate Eric Lyday was on drugs. The story should have read that Lyday was on drums. The Sentinel regrets the error.

Omfg. Study after study has shown that the reason 12-step groups work is because of the human connection. Literally community is the treatment for addiction. This “AI AA” bullshit is going to kill people who would otherwise have sought help where it actually exists: IN MEETINGS.

Americans are familiar with this by now but perhaps it is time to warn Australians: undermining press freedom is a populist authoritarian tactic. Discredit the press, shut them out, and finally dismantle (or take over) them. Hanson hasn’t got to step 3 yet but can we please be aware of the ladder

Which is to say in the classes I’ve allowed AI use, I’ve actually been more successful at getting them to NOT use it because I show them what they’re supposed to do, they can’t get their AI to do it, they realize the AI is trash, they write the papers themselves, everyone is happy
