I am big fan of skeptical considerations of existing AI technologies and our knowledge of the brain. But this kind of article is the straw man many will use to ignore well founded skepticism.

proportional is far far far far far far superior to ranked choice voting for reps, but ranked is still useful executives but proportional representation allows post election collation formation.

Absentee, it was pretty close considering this result probably best for everyone.

Line of good communicator. this is more evidence of his lack of communications sophistication or judgment that distracts from his ability to win races.

Sure but i had a pretty visceral reaction to “Unlike some of Nolan’s other films, The Odyssey is not boring,” and chalking that up to the source only. It is interesting and justifiably critical, but also: clickbait.

He actually is in favor of US AID spending according to his statements so all the more reason it was a bad answer that you believe he is not from it.

To which that author agrees it’s valid to believe me that he made an error and should not have said that, which is what i think.
010
Kevin Thurman @kmthurman.bsky.social · 21/07/2026
Then we disagree it was an error and you accept the possibly of that paraphrase as acceptable. And that’s a perfectly reasonable position, there are lots of ways to win campaigns and more ways to lose them.
000
Kevin Thurman @kmthurman.bsky.social · 21/07/2026
Yes which is why on campaign you write a message book and practice the candidate he wasn’t prepared for this question. Bowling my original point and making it an error … or he did all that and he did it on purpose 🤷‍♂️
100
Kevin Thurman @kmthurman.bsky.social · 21/07/2026
Every candidate makes errors and this is an example that comes from them. For example he could have said: “Our money should give health care to sick kids rather than to help kill children far away or jail them in concentration camps on our shores is something everyone should agree with.”
100
Kevin Thurman @kmthurman.bsky.social · 21/07/2026
“everybody agrees with that we should keep our money here.” They don’t then he does go on to say MTG agrees himself. So both are errors.
120
Kevin Thurman @kmthurman.bsky.social · 21/07/2026
Again, not arguing he’s bad just saying it’s an unexpected error in a close race. And if that’s true then it’s even more of one.
110
Kevin Thurman @kmthurman.bsky.social · 21/07/2026
If i use phrases used by my opponents to make the case against all foreign spending and name check one of the worst ones then you’re going to get that assumption. It’s a choice. It’s creating attention and controversy. Which is likely the point. But it’s also not great imho.
150
Kevin Thurman @kmthurman.bsky.social · 21/07/2026
But given is “keeping our money our money here” phrasing + MTG arhumwnt i feel like we can say the paraphrase was bad and the word choice was flawed.

While the argument to not spend money on Isreal is obviously correct the framing of “keeping our money here” is highly objectionable.

I am pretty sure every match against CONCACAF and many others the players of European teams often believe they are defending the very honor of football.

This is not what it saying better to lose than report a guy for breaking the rules and punching another player with closed fist on the field. Torsten Fringe who cheated his way through 4 years earlier.

1) The rules are about the federation regretfully 2) If your enforcing those rules then you not only kick the USA out then you move every match to Mexico and Canada. An outcome am cool with as a died hard USMNT fan. But that would never happen.

This is exactly what all the teams *should* be doing right now.

I mean I am game if we want to restart Group K & wait for them to replay all the matches wihtout Ronaldo *and* Balogun serves his one match ban. My issue with nearly every side of this debate is essentially "First time?" meme about FIFA.

Who do you think own the biggest teams in Europe?

Kevin Thurman @kmthurman.bsky.social · 06/07/2026
The tournament already started very undermined and UEFA was fine with it. Will they offer to replace Portugal with DR Congo against Spain? Trump should be in jail and likely Infantino as well, but people elected them and won’t prosecute them with the systems we have regretfully.

Kevin Thurman @kmthurman.bsky.social · 06/07/2026
As of now: he’s playing. UEFA is “mad” now that it’s not Ronaldo. FIFA is created an opaque appeal process whose deadline was a couple hours go and all of that that will make this worse.

Kevin Thurman @kmthurman.bsky.social · 06/07/2026
Previously as in in the past not previous to the the tournament:
Suspension of implementation of disciplinary measures
1. The judicial body may decide to fully or partially suspend the
implementation of a disciplinary measure.
By suspending the implementation of the sanction, the judicial body
subjects the person sanctioned to a probationary period of one to four
years.
If the person benefiting from a suspended sanction commits another
infringement of a similar nature and gravity during the probationary period,
the suspension shall be revoked by the judicial body and the sanction
enforced without prejudice to any additional sanction imposed for the new
infringement.
Disciplinary measures relating to match manipulation cannot be suspended.

The solution to this is a process that forces precedent to be valued that means means more judges and more circuits to allow for faster cases and to feed a circuit riding sortation system for Supreme Court justices and cases. If you never know which of the 29+ supreme Justices you’ll get …

Yeah to me selling situation w/ more circuits and more judges in each circuit so cases move fast is the simple solution that eluded FDR, if i am not mistaken these would makes writing strong precedent as opposed to more valuable to “both sides” of any debate.

Good thread! Aside: Does it stay that way if USA ever play Brazil? I mean it’s as Brazilian as it is Belgian these days (Two brazilians CEOs in a row and 3G Cap owns nearly as much as the Belgians)

I agree on Semis: but Brazil v Mexico/England in Miami, USA back in LA, and Argentina v Columbia in KC are all good. Boston/has had some key fans making it fun. USA in Seattle, Mexico in Azteca, Argentina in Atlanta are the best of round of 16. So yeah Atlanta has two more after memorable R32.

Kevin Thurman @kmthurman.bsky.social · 02/07/2026
There is but it’s unlikely they will even consider it. So everyone is likely to go through the motions then leave the 1 hame suspension in place.

Malik Tillman, bloody right toe and all, changed his boot right before the free kick goal because it was cut through.
“Wait, your shoe was, like, broken open?” “Yeah.” “Was it your right?”
*sheepishly looks down, smiles* “Yeah.” Good laugh from soft-spoken #USMNT defender.
