Great piece from Mount Royal’s Paul Varella. “Immigrants are not marginal to Alberta’s economy; they represent nearly the entire engine of labour force growth. calgaryherald.com/opinion/colu... #NoToTheNone

I just went back through eBird and changed any checklists I had of this pair to hidden . Once they finally migrate I’ll go back and inside the checklists . Going forward I’ll hide right after submitting until the coast is clear . #frustratedwithhumanity

#Birds #EthicalBirding See the problem here ?? This “ birder” is on PRIVATE property ( yes farmers fields are private ) trying to get closer to a pair of Whooping cranes . No photo ever justifies this behaviour . EVER

Asshat in a farm field trying to get his money shot.

#Birds #AlbertaBirds #Migration a second sighting this summer of vagrant Whooping Cranes !! This pair, likely young ones not yet breeding..wandered around a couple of counties within an hours drive from my home. 600+ photos later..heres a few:

Predawn, a male Whopping Crane spreads his wings and shows off to his mate. She seems more interested in preening.
a calm lake with grasses in the background

Look at my wingspread ! its fantastic ! .... whatever Bob just keep walking

Predawn dance routine ? Or is she just getting away from his weirdness.

Later in a sunlit field the male spreads his wings agaion while the female looks away seemingly bored of his shenanigans

You must choose. But choose wisely. $1000 in your bank account or It Happens Tomorrow?

Our fabulous fritillaries are now on the wing! Great Spangled Fritillary is one of the largest and most spectacular of this spectacular bunch. #Ab #bugs

Post a perfect album from the 90s that isn’t Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, or Alice in Chains
