Serious question. Why do domain prices increase? Does the cost of administering a domain increase for a registrar? Is it purely profit motivated? Security costs? It all FEELS random, but maybe it's regulated?

Listen, Google. Take all the nifty phone/app streaming tech in the new Googlebooks and add it to Android XR. The single best use case for streaming a phone interface is in VR. Passthrough isn't bad, but it's not the same. Let me flick my finger and look at my phone screen. That would be awesome.

The new Meta VR glasses look solid, but I just can't buy more Meta products. I love my Quest 3, and Meta has done as much as anyone to further VR/AR tech, but I don't want to support that company anymore. Maybe they'll change one day... Probably not.

I think if Google had manufactured their own premium Googlebook, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. But I've had too many Dell, HP, Lenovo clunkers over the years to trust them or want their branding on my laptop. Maybe we can get a Framework Googlebook!

If you had to host PDS, Relay, labeler, CDN, client, and an AppView just to run an Atmosphere application, I would never recommend AT Protocol and tell you to find a better stack. But like the Atmosphere solves the cold start problem for having users, it does the same for devs.

How do you like the Pebble Index? I'm a fan. Been using it on walks to record ideas/thoughts, and the transcriptions get pushed right to Obsidian. Works really well.

Wasn't there supposed to be a media event for Googlebooks tonight? I just read that preorders open Sept 21, but any news before then? I'm an Android user, and I want to believe, but I'm not convinced a Googlebook will meet my use cases any more than a Chromebook. Hard to be convinced with no data.

Pixel 11 Pro XL. Apparently that makes me a nerd, and I'm fine with that. But if it runs on a mid grade Android phone, it will be awesome on mine. Most importantly, imo, make sure it's responsive and uses screen real estate effectively, so everyone gets a good experience. Can't wait, by the way!

I honestly don't know how to process the Chicago Bears scoring 59 points in the first game of the year. How is it possible to exceed the hype? And there was room for improvement! Insane. Go Bears!

What's with Big Ten Network and FS1 failing to cut to college football games on time? Two Illinois games this year, and both were already underway. Remember when local networks could cut over even when a national broadcast did not? With all today's technology, can we not do what we once did?
