I have not been at the bench much lately, but it was mostly for positive reasons. Among other things I have also visited the Bastogne War Museum and war rooms which was great. I hope to get back up and running on the Roma this week. #ItaliaGB #histscalemodels

Not buying two of every WNW kit before they went bust 😆 On a more serious note similar to below I once added the wrong thinner or cleaner to my airbrush and everything went goo-like and it was a fun afternoon fixing that.

Completed. Das Werk 1/16 Scale Sd.kfz. 234/2 Puma. This kit tested my patience not because it was a poor kit but because the instructions are wrong and misleading. From the start it gives you the option for expert or simple.version. hmm. There's a lot of work involved #histscalemodels

So straight off the instructions look beautiful and each step tells you what you are putting together. I miss that with so many model kits, it's such a good addition. It's not really my subject of choice but it looks very good. If they ever do something more my speed I'm in.

Spend this weekend painting the hull. Added a bit of vertical streaking as pre shading on the green. I'm not so good at photography and I don't really have well lit large surfaces to photograph this on, maybe something to look into at some point 😁 #ItaliaGB #histscalemodels

It's a long but slender hull more like the Iowa class than the queen Elizabeth class. Quite modern for its time.

And yeah I sprayed a pretty thick coat of surfacer 1000 to fill most of the sanding scratches. I just need a flat surface anyway.

Small update on the #ItaliaGB I finished destroying the main deck (and my nippers oops), glued the lower and upper hull together and got primer on the deck and hull (latter not shown). Most of the remaining scratches etc will have parts going over them I think. #histscalemodels

MRP most of the time. Just sprays fine and beautiful satin finishes without even trying. If needed for colours I am also quite happy to use Mr Colour, AK Real colours and I've been using ATOM from ammo every now and then. For metallics AK Xtreme or A-stand (alclad).

Most trouble will come from the painting. Horizontal surfaces in deck, wood or red/white and all vertical in camouflage. So, I'll probably paint and build from bottom to top as I go because of that. Still a bunch of cutting and sanding to do on the main deck for now.

Despite the fact that 3d printed parts will contain some layer lines they will be a massive improvement on the plastic parts. The first plastic parts I had to use were covered in burring and flash, almost Revell like.. anyway, lower hull sanded, filled and shafts done. #ItaliaGB #histscalemodels

Yup apart from the basic shapes not much will remain in the end. The hull sides I guess. But the silver coloured pe for example outlines the replacement parts' location. It's not so bad (so far)! The rest of the superstructure will just be straight up printed, no kit parts used at all.

Thank you twai. It is a bit unnerving to cut your whole kit to pieces but the possible payoff is so good I'll give it a go. Don't tell anyone but if it goes sideways or I run out of time (quite possible) I might have a backup for November to still get an Italian kit in.

I know how you feel. I'll still build one on occasion (German, Japanese or Italian) but not often. As for Soviet tanks I recently found some decals of the fins capturing, painting and reusing them. Very tempted.

The patton is a classic tank for sure. And yeah, I agree on the IFV's, I have a trumpy BMP-2 to make a ukrainian one but its not very appealing to start on.

The Ukrainian flanker is done 🙌 my 2nd flanker from GWH, it remains a great kit to work with. I added harm missiles which this scheme never had but wanted to do it anyway. Bonus su-24 with a mig-29 and su-25 to complete set waiting in the stash. #histscalemodels #finishedkits

Perhaps not the most original question but I'm curious about the BS community. If made by a manufacturer you deem good for the subject, what would you like to see tooled as a new kit? For me it'd be a Gripen E or a Essex-class fleet carrier. #histscalemodels #scalemodels

a small amount of TET shouldn't fill up any gaps on its own, are you pressing down on the parts while the plastic is still soft? If you don't want to use CA you could always try the more classic type of glue like tamiya's white cap. It isn't as nice and fast as TET but nice for some cases.
