Alright I finished the funnel sub assemblies with the AA platform etc. yes I lost a bit or PE at the top it'll come back. A good point as any to pivot to the horizon class destroyer, to finish something for the #ItaliaGB because I think it should be fine for the GB rules? #histscalemodels

I spend a few hours on this AA platform. Looking at what's ahead I'm starting to consider pivoting by November to get something done for the groupbuild because there's already more weekends where I won't have time planned ahead and there's a lot PE to be added 😬 some game releases, too. #ItaliaGB

I think these should both be fine for the GB if need be.

I have not been at the bench much lately, but it was mostly for positive reasons. Among other things I have also visited the Bastogne War Museum and war rooms which was great. I hope to get back up and running on the Roma this week. #ItaliaGB #histscalemodels

Spend this weekend painting the hull. Added a bit of vertical streaking as pre shading on the green. I'm not so good at photography and I don't really have well lit large surfaces to photograph this on, maybe something to look into at some point 😁 #ItaliaGB #histscalemodels

Small update on the #ItaliaGB I finished destroying the main deck (and my nippers oops), glued the lower and upper hull together and got primer on the deck and hull (latter not shown). Most of the remaining scratches etc will have parts going over them I think. #histscalemodels

Despite the fact that 3d printed parts will contain some layer lines they will be a massive improvement on the plastic parts. The first plastic parts I had to use were covered in burring and flash, almost Revell like.. anyway, lower hull sanded, filled and shafts done. #ItaliaGB #histscalemodels

Thank you twai. It is a bit unnerving to cut your whole kit to pieces but the possible payoff is so good I'll give it a go. Don't tell anyone but if it goes sideways or I run out of time (quite possible) I might have a backup for November to still get an Italian kit in.

I know how you feel. I'll still build one on occasion (German, Japanese or Italian) but not often. As for Soviet tanks I recently found some decals of the fins capturing, painting and reusing them. Very tempted.

The Ukrainian flanker is done 🙌 my 2nd flanker from GWH, it remains a great kit to work with. I added harm missiles which this scheme never had but wanted to do it anyway. Bonus su-24 with a mig-29 and su-25 to complete set waiting in the stash. #histscalemodels #finishedkits

Perhaps not the most original question but I'm curious about the BS community. If made by a manufacturer you deem good for the subject, what would you like to see tooled as a new kit? For me it'd be a Gripen E or a Essex-class fleet carrier. #histscalemodels #scalemodels

a small amount of TET shouldn't fill up any gaps on its own, are you pressing down on the parts while the plastic is still soft? If you don't want to use CA you could always try the more classic type of glue like tamiya's white cap. It isn't as nice and fast as TET but nice for some cases.

Speaking of landing lights I tried the super chrome marker by ammo in the iconic colours range. Does the job perfectly though it's a bit hard to capture it on camera. It looks a lot like those reflective inner bits of lights anyway. #histscalemodels

At 1/72 I might consider looking into pens to do some of the blue and titanium coloured discoloration because otherwise it'd be a lot of masking or too soft demarcations. I did that with this su-35 that I made a couple of years ago.

Underside of the su-27 is getting close to being done. I added the wheel bay doors and stores. For now I'm not adding any r-27's. Just have the front gear lights and some touch ups on the tire weathering left here. #histscalemodels

So.. #ItaliaGB 🇮🇹 let me explain.. I was gathering upgrades for the Roma and only later found the pontos set, it wasn't on scalemates 😔 but it just looked to good to pass on. So basis is the pontos set with micro master nz turrets and heavy hobby AA guns. Alt text for info. Can't wait!

Perhaps the most complete singular ship model out there. Flyhawks' USS Cowpens (Ticonderoga class cruiser) comes with nicely molded kit parts, 3d printed details, PE, metal barrels, mask set and a nameplate in letters(?). #histscalemodels

That's a wrapup for #BastilleBuild for me. The Dora wings Marcel Bloch 155 is an okay short run kit. Most major assemblies go together well enough but the cockpit and especially landing gear leave a lot to be desired. Definitely can be overcome if you like the subject. #Histscalemodels

I'm not going to go to town on bodywork on this kit but for short run the main parts go together pretty painlessly. Top wing root join is pretty clean and the canopy seems pretty snug without glue as well. Bit fearfull of the engine cowls but we'll see how it goes #bastillebuild

Well March ended up not being a productive month when it comes to scale modelling so I didn't end up finishing the naiad in time. Still, it's a nice kit and I think it's going to turn into a very nice finish in the end. Messy workbench pic to show where I last left it last week. #histscalemodels

Speaking of good customer service. I thought the mistakes on the fuselage here were my own. Gothaforce reached out saying there's something wrong with the decals and I will be getting a new kit. Meanwhile MBK has ordered replacement parts for my pontos models Roma set. 👍 From me. #histscalemodels

Haven't really been posting any updates but work is continuing on the 3d printed Fokker D.VII. The kit has its issues but overall the fit and this magical not so brittle resin is making this kit certainly no more trouble than any styrene kit covered in lozenge. #histscalemodels

So this is the Pontos detail up set for the R.N. Roma and wow. 650 printed parts, load of the thinnest PE I've seen. Most of the superstructure is replaced. Still, what appears to be a modeller friendly design. Some parts are damaged but I'm sure MBK or Pontos will sort me out. #histscalemodels

So I was quite excited and just started this the day after I got it. It's the gothaforce fokker d.vii. I got the Rudolf Stark livery. The single piece cockpit scared me a little bit when I saw it but I must say it wasn't all that hard in the end, only one minor break. #histscalemodels

The fact that this was just 3 months ago is crazy to me. The body is capable of a lot of healing. I don't have full range of motion and strength quite yet but it barely bothers me in daily life now.

That's the #FestiveTankChallenge completed in 8 days. Overall not dissatisfied with the dusty north African Sherman here. I definitely want to do another cast hull Sherman in the future by another brand and spend some more time on it because I like she shape a lot. #histscalemodels
