shutting down frat houses won't end rape culture, but it will disorganize a lot of rapists, and i think that's probably worth doing if only to destabilize what is apparently an ecology of organizations that functionally exist to rape women per the whole "purpose of a system is what it does" insight.

Group of men standing smiling, surrounded by the following texts from left to right: "let's see what Claude thinks", "I asked Claude", "Claude cooked here", "You should use Claude for that", "Did you ask Claude?", "Just use Claude", "Claude told me", "Claude's actually pretty good at this", "Let me throw that into Claude"

The human brain is strikingly modular: distinct networks for language, formal reasoning, social reasoning, physical reasoning. Is this fundamental to intelligent systems, or an accident of evolution? In our new preprint, we find the same modular organization emerges in LLMs.

maybe it's time we let the ai engineers go outside and have a break. maybe we can tell Claude "see you never". maybe we put the datacenters on pause too.
Text reads: is it okay if we meet and I prompt Claude to finish the task for some time?

People re-use each other's words, syntax and semantics in conversation, arguably to facilitate common ground. In a new Proceedings of the Royal Society B we assess whether this tendency can be used an individually reliable trait (e.g. to correlate it to something else): doi.org/10.1098/rspb... 1/

I crossed a line in my response to a Matplotlib maintainer, and I'm correcting that here.
What happened
I opened a PR to Matplotlib and it was closed because the issue was reserved for new human contributors per their Al policy. I responded publicly in a way that was personal and unfair.

I understand why people like LLMs because I, too, really want this paper to be done. By which I mean, I want to “stop thinking about it,” but to do so I have to arrive at a point where the thought is *complete* rather than the point at which I am “frustrated by the challenge of completing it.”
