Remembering this 1992 ad campaign disaster for some reason and really hoping it isn't an analogy for the rest of 2026.

Does it matter if the private equity owned real estate is a single family, duplex, condo, or apartment building/complex? It's always midnight somewhere.
Film still from Gremlins 2: The New Batch set inside the high-tech Clamp Center control room.
In the foreground, Billy Peltzer (Zach Galligan) stands wearing a tweed blazer and an open-collar white dress shirt, looking downward with a serious expression. Beside him, Forster (Robert Picardo) sits wearing wire-frame glasses, a gray suit, a dark red tie, and a thin headset microphone, smiling upward. In the lower right, a control room technician wearing a headset gestures with a raised hand. The background is dominated by banks of control consoles featuring rows of illuminated indicator buttons, switches, and glowing CRT monitors displaying telemetry and surveillance feeds.

Album cover for "Tenebre: The Complete Original Motion Picture Soundtrack". The top features the title "TENEBRE" in stylized red block lettering with a mirrored reflection directly beneath it, positioned above the subtitle in white text. The central image depicts a dark-haired woman lying prone in a white shirt stained with bright red blood, surrounded by a pool of blood on the floor. If you wish enough for it to be worth the space/money for you, a good precision electric screwdriver might help with the former issue, and an ESD workspace mat with organizer trays with the latter.
A dark gray silicone electronics repair and soldering mat isolated on a white background, surrounded by various workbench tools and accessories.
The top edge features built-in organizer trays, magnetic screw indexing notches, and component bins filled with small hardware, tweezers, and pry tools, alongside three upright screwdrivers with color-coded handles (red, blue, green). The wide rectangular work area holds an orange precision screwdriver and a black ESD cleaning brush on the left. Arranged beneath the mat are a black desktop solder spool holder, an adjustable blue anti-static wrist strap with a coiled cord, and an auxiliary grounding cable with alligator clips.

The question Patrick McGoohan, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Hiroyuki Yamaga, and Hideaki Anno all want their audiences to ask
A still image of Harvey Korman as the character Hedley Lamarr from the film Blazing Saddles. He is sitting behind a large desk in an office lined with wooden bookshelves filled with law books. He wears a gray suit jacket over a white ruffled shirt with a black ribbon tie, looking directly into the camera with a deadpan, exasperated expression, his hands clasped together on a green desk mat. Bold white text across the bottom of the image reads: "WHY AM I ASKING YOU?".

(More specifically on Apr 3 at Academy Cinemas in Auckland, which is a fantastic indie theater buried four flights down from the main central library that still has and uses their waterfall proscenium curtain, and then this past Sunday at The Palm Theatre/SLO Film Center here on the Central Coast)
Promotional artwork for a screening of Alejandro Jodorowsky’s film The Holy Mountain, marked with the number "27" in the upper-left corner. The composition features the Alchemist in silhouette wearing his iconic broad, flat-brimmed black hat, framed against a glowing golden pyramid and stylized white clouds. His hands rest atop the bowed, bald heads of two nude figures facing inward. Between them, a radiant red heart containing an all-seeing eye esoteric emblem rises from stylized orange flames set above small plinths. The film title, "The Holy Mountain," is printed across the bottom in stylized, ornate white letteringWide interior view from the rear rows of a classic independent cinema auditorium before showtime. The house is fitted with curved rows of high-backed, dark blue upholstered theater seats. At the front, the movie screen is concealed behind a tall, pleated gold-tan stage curtain. The auditorium walls are lined with floor-to-ceiling pleated gold drapes topped with layered decorative valances in teal and burgundy, illuminated by warm recessed downlights along the dark ceiling. A few patrons are scattered across the center seats waiting for the film to start.

As usual in late September of an even year I find myself appreciating California's extensive efforts to make sure its citizens have some idea of what they're voting on, even if the size of our ballots and the number of races and measures we have to vote on can be a bit much.

Which depending on where you lived also was more likely than not brown on brown until a late 90s to mid 00s refresh away from this.
A daytime, eye-level shot of an older, mission-style Taco Bell restaurant under a clear blue sky. On the left, a tall vertical pole sign features the vintage logo: a yellow bell with a green clapper, the words "TACO BELL" in white block letters, and a lower panel that reads "DRIVE THRU". A matching logo sign is mounted on the arched peak of the building's facade above a brown clay-tiled roof. In the lower foreground, a person wearing a white baseball cap, grey jacket, and blue jeans walks past the building on a sidewalk, framed by a manicured green bush.

With the exception of the humble cheesy bean and rice which can be the base for some solid menu hacking depending on your local pricing. (Subbing xtra black beans for the refried, effectively, looks wonky in the cart)
1 Cheesy Bean and Rice Burrito, remove nacho cheese sauce, remove creamy jalapeno sauce, sub black beans for the refried, fresco style, add pico de gallo, add black beans, add onions, add three-cheese blend.

Certain versions of their taco beef recipe were worse about this than others, so they may also be remembering that. Also they may just be the type of person to order from the "beefy potato loaded griller" side of the menu, which just looks like an unpleasant time waiting to happen.

You have a point. I was going to bring up this guy, but I really haven't seen Musk-level re-evaluations of Hughes's earlier achievements.
A black-and-white photograph of a man with a long, unkempt white beard and messy shoulder-length hair, bearing a striking resemblance to Howard Hughes in his later years. He is sitting on the edge of a bed in a sterile-looking room with tiled floors.

He wears light-colored pajamas and has his feet placed inside two rectangular tissue boxes used as makeshift slippers. He holds a lit cigarette in each hand, looking off-camera with a weary, intense expression. In the background, a small table is cluttered with various bottles and canisters. The overall atmosphere is one of eccentric isolation and decline.

FWIW their response to my post was more reasonable than I'd expect from a troll. I don't know your prior interactions, but hopefully it was just a hasty misreading in a difficult and stressful time. This is bsky tho so I can't fault anyone for blocking early/often as is the culture here.
Reply to my reply by the person in question, saying "Ooh, ok yeah that's much more concerning behavior. I thought he said 'acting like children' as in being immature. I couldn't recheck because I was kind of instantly blocked for making the point I did. Woops. It is what it is, i will try to improve reading comprehension in the future."

Getting ready to head to The Palm again because I'm an absolute sucker for shit like this.
A movie listing from The Palm Theater website:

Secret VHS Double Feature
This is not your average movie night. Physical Media Society is bringing you a true VHS experience, projected directly from real, authentic tapes. That’s right — this isn’t digital, no streaming, no Blu-ray. We’re talking grainy goodness, the crackle of analog sound, and the magic of vintage physical media. The theme? Battle of the Bands! You’ll get not one, but TWO secret cult-classic films from the ‘90s featuring fictional bands that rock, brawl, and steal the show. It’s a night for anyone who craves the vibe of an old-school sleepover, cheers for the underdogs, or just wants to witness rock ‘n’ roll mayhem in its purest, analog form. Grab your friends, bring your nostalgia, and join us for a double feature like no other!

The hunger ends at four patties and four slices of cheese, after people looking for net cred ruined it for everybody else by ordering 100x100s.
Four hands holding a jerry-rigged cardboard box containing a burger with two buns, 100 patties, and 100 slices of cheese up for the camera, with a backdrop of a stainless steel counter, a red-tiled wall, and an in-n-out employee in a white uniform and paper hat with a red apron around his waist looking like they're wondering what these weirdos with a camera are up to. The takeaway makes some sense when you see the theater in context: that it's in what used to be SLO's Chinatown right next door to a restaurant with a "chop suey" sign (now a noodle house instead of a classic Chinese-American food place) and that there was more left in '88 when the theater opened. 😅
The Palm Theatre, a one-story tan building with a green awning and a red marquee, stands on a tree-lined street. A vintage-style sign above the marquee reads "PALM THEATRE" in white letters. The marquee itself displays the message "PURCHASE TICKETS ONLINE AT THEPALMTHEATRE.COM" in black letters. Two people are waiting outside the theatre, and a green bench sits on the sidewalk in front of the building. Immediately adjacent though partially obscured by a tree, you can spot the "Mee Heng Low Chop Suey" restaurant with its distinctive red and neon sign.
