Thank you to everyone that came to my #uksg26 breakout. I was blown away by how many people came to my talk and showed their interest in my project, and it’s not even done yet!
A photograph takes across a conference stage. At the right and the front of the frame is a lecture with the UKSG logo. A slide can be seen on the wall at the centre of the frame, it reads looking back to look forward.

Pre-UKSG hide in the hotel and chill… bracing myself for all the chaos tomorrow. I managed to get a table with a view for dinner though!

UKSG is coming up next week and I’m looking forward to it! It’s always such a great opportunity to catch up with friends and make new ones! I’m also going to be talking about some of my initial results from my PhD research… no pressure 😱
A small advertising poster that reads - looking back to look forward, what is the real-world impact of open access on our libraries - and has the banner UKSG 49th annual conference along the top

I’m really looking forward to speaking at @uksg.bsky.social this year, sharing some of my initial results from my PhD research. This is the first time I will be presenting at UKSG not as part of a panel so I’m a bit nervous already! I’m in Group A if you wanna come along and be a friendly face 😉

Couldn’t resist this really weird Kandinsky inspired double serving moka pot when I saw it while ordering my usual coffee beans! Look at it!!

New t-shirt alert! I love @thesparkdotcompany.bsky.social and couldn’t resist adding this one to my collection! :)

Did a lunch and learn about my PhD research-in-progress for @cilip.bsky.social ARLG today. Not many questions but I think it went well, it’s nice to try to find ways to take something complex and translate it to different audiences. Thanks to @craigmartinucl.bsky.social for setting it up! #PhDSky

I have been collecting stickers and badges during the conference and I love it!! #UKSG2025
A conference lanyard that reads UKSG, Kirsty Wallis, UCL. It has a pale blue sticker that says NLISN and a yellow opening the future sticker. On the bottom of the name tag is a flag that reads speaker in gold letters. On the lanyard strap are three badges, ebook sos, the book whisperer, and one which reads ‘I’m a librarian, what’s your superpower’

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside… ⛱️☀️🍦 Successfully arrived in, and had a good explore of lovely Brighton in advance of #UKSG2025 starting tomorrow.
Happy me with headphones and a giant soft serve ice cream. There is a carousel in the background. Brighton pier in the sunshineBrighton Royal Pavilion entrance. Columns adorn the front and there are Indian style domes on the roof. The path in front is painted with swirls of blue, pink, yellow and green

Greetings from UCL East campus this morning. It’s cold and frosty but lovely and bright and the coffee is good ☕️😍
A mug of black coffee and a glass of water are in focus in the foreground. In the background and out of focus can be seen a bright blue sky, some picnic benches (near) and two tall grey buildings (far)

Study day consisted of @alisonhicks0.bsky.social being wonderful and making me feel better for not getting any PhD work done over Christmas because I was ill, and then the dentist. I earned this…
Cappuccino and a small tray of macarons. Front to back on the left of the image, red, green, white and brown.

It’s here! Backed this on kickstarter ages ago and can’t wait to try out a different approach to mental wellbeing accompanied by some fun characters :) #quietbrain

It was really hard to get a picture of but it was draped throughout the whole atrium… I’d love to go back, it was such a great museum I agree. Lovely and calm.

I always forget until I pick up the pen again how much drawing helps quiet my brain. Was 100% out of all brain for the day and then I sat and drew, reduced my stress levels immensely! Posca pens are my new favourite toy.

When the emails are coming in faster than you can answer them and you want to get your head down on campus without interruption for a bit… what do you do? Hide in a corner of the stacks of course! Only possible in the summer, but isn’t it nice! #library #UCLlibraries #oncampus

Just sent my final Tweet. Account will be deactivated tomorrow. Been through this morning and saved or screenshotted lots of memories. Feeling quite sad to say goodbye but it’s the right thing to do. Here’s a cute dinosaur I built while I was poorly to cheer everyone up :)

Chatting about my ontology/epistemology problems with my brother was super helpful. He asked ChatGPT what it thought. Not bad. He then asked it to define constructivism in the form of a @Metallica song and it was too good not to share! I haven’t laughed so hard in ages! #PhDLife
