It has honestly made it difficult to keep up the momentum from a couple months ago when I started posting more regularly again. The prospect of hopping platforms a couple times a year after they shutdown payout methods and/or change content rules and keep my money is depressing.

Realizing I don't actually have a picture of inside the control box... >_> But I do have a picture of what's inside the light fixture 😬 It started off organized, labeled, measured, diagramed... and by the end it went full ADHD "make it fit" mode

The inside of a traffic light. The light fixture is swung open to the left. Behind it is a relay bank with 6 relays, part of an extension cord, and a USB charger. The relay bank is powered by the phone charger. The piece of extension cord that powers the USB charger is spliced into the main wiring.

For the curious: RJ45 is for modular cable length between this controller and the PSU + relay bank in the light, meaning the controller doesn't have to be near an outlet Everything except the 3-way light switch was pieced together from supply closet scraps ...you don't want to see the inside.

I was asked to build a controller for a traffic light prop for local theater group, but keep it cheap. I may have taken the instructions too literally.

A cardboard box with a 3-way light switch, and a momentary toggle switch installed on top of it. The light switch has a dial from some other equipment stuck on it. The four positions for the light switch are labeled G, Y, R, and OFF. The momentary switch has two labels, one that says "traffic light" and the other says "flash"

I suppose if there were a ton of impedance from a cold solder joint, it might do that... There are two techs in my head; one says open it up and see if it can be fixed, the other says everything else works perfectly and there's already a discrete workaround in place, so just deploy it 😅

I'm not sure. Might just be the DAC in the docking station is trash. Usually if the jack is bad or poorly soldered, there is a scratchiness and you can wiggle the plug and hear lots of noise. This on is clear, just really quiet and has almost no bass. Tried with multiple headphones and speakers.

Fortunately the condenser mic is USB C so the 3.5 quality doesn't matter. I know, USB isn't the best, but it works Might end up looping an old home theater receiver up to handle videoI/O adaptor duties Anyway, gonna finish up some editing now that everything is pretty functional :3

Think I finally got a dock setup that actually works as a one-plug solution to my laptop The only "issue" is the new dock's 3.5mm output is *astonishingly* horrible so I have to use HDMI audio to my 2nd monitor and the 3.5mm off of that. Still, just one USB C to the laptop, so pretty good!

A broken wall outlet. One of the two outlet faces has been broken completely off of the outlet. It has paint in the outlet holes as well.

Theoretically speaking, would anybody be interested in watching a dog-thing streaming old games from the Win 3.11 days? Probably badly? And maybe sometimes newer stuff (but probably even more badly because the only "modern" game it was ever good at was Mechwarrior 4 😅)

I've tried a few other scalers, and using OBS, etc, but Magpie has been the lightest-weight and easiest thing I've tried so far. ...and don't worry, I'm still editing new stuff in between nostalgia breaks :P

And while there are still great and fresh games being made... many elements are familiar to the point it's difficult to recapture that feeling of being totally lost and surprised. And I think sometimes I try to chase that feeling by playing "new" games that I can go into relatively blind.

I think, more than anything, I get nostalgic for how I felt when I was younger, when guides were scarce, games weren't dissected within hours of release, and game mechanics were still far from standardized. Each new game had potential to be really *really* new, in a lot of ways!

I'm a liiiiittle bit salty I didn't get the tips of my knees in frame, but the tripod was already on top of the sink to get this angle, and it seemed important to have the anchor point for the hair in frame... either way, the S23 got the upward angle that captures everything, so it's all good :3

This desk setup is really helping my productivity. Got all but the last two minutes of this video mostly finished today! Still need to finalize transition effects and audio correction, but those are the easy parts.

Hmm... I did a scene about 4yrs(?) ago ×here I played OG Castlevania while handcuffed and distracted with a vibrator. The video wasn't too good for various reasons and I never released it ...maybe time for a redo now now that I have a better setup? 🤔 (although I'm still quite bad at Castlevania 😅)

Not 100% sure what I'm doing with this corner behind my desk, but it's sorta coming together. It's weird how inexperienced I am at organizing my own space. Anywhere I lived was always tiny, and everyone in my family had hoarder tendencies, so there wasn't really "my" space.

There is a short bookcase/shelf in the corner. There is a small Sony Trinitron TV on top of the shelf next to a "Tote Vision" VHS player. There is an AtGames Sega Genesis on top of the TV. There is a birdcage with a stuffed Aerodactyl in it on top of the VHS player. There is a wall shelf with camera equipment and a gasmask on it. There is a black and white picture on the other wall, below another wall shelf.

Especially happy rn because I finally got the TV and the laptop dock hooked up to the 2.1 speakers, using a little passive mixer to switch between sources. I work much better when I have ambient noise, even at the same time I'm using headphones, so this helps a lot.
