The story of Tekken 8 also doesn't involve Heihachi at all, and it's mostly about Jin and Kazuya settling their generations of videogame beefs. Then Heihachi comes back almost immediately as DLC LMAO. Makes Reina look a bit silly and invalidates T7. But also I mean... Fighting games lol.

Yes exactly. I mean it's a weird thing. Tekken 7's story basically had like, a -DEFINITIVE- end to Heihachi. The story was about his final face off and it was a big deal. Then in Tekken 8 he was replaced by Reina, who is like a mysterious daughter who is slowly being set up to kind of take his role.

Anyway, I got this feeling from reading something someone else had done. And in general I think if you've created something and put it out on the internet for it to be judged, you've already succeeded (especially in our current reality). But yeah it activated that tendency in my brain again.

I can't tell if that's impostor syndrome or something that's true. It's also worth thinking about in bigger works how the author's intent may have changed from the original by an editor, who probably wanted their text to be more accessible. But I guess you can only evaluate the end product.

It comes from this idea that I think it's just nice when the text speaks for itself, and you have that magical moment of drawing the conclusion where you feel like the text respects you. But I also should understand that not everyone's going to have that, and it's okay for text to be accessible

I think I might be the worst media consumer on the planet. I have this thing where I'm like, "you really didn't need to add that line/scene/etc. I get it." when I've decided that the text has already made the point, and they're wasting time to explain it.
