People are evoking images of artists barely making ends meet as being the victims if Patagonia drops the lawsuit and I promise you, those artists probably don’t have money for a trademark application. So trademark does nothing for them. Just so we’re all clear.

Copyright and Trademark are not the same thing and I think a good chunk of the Patagonia supporters don’t get this. “Trademark has to be upheld to protect small artists” How many small artists do you know who are filing for trademark? You’re thinking of copyright, which you don’t have to file for.
