Just found out that Brian Sella, the lead vocalist of The Front Bottoms—the band whose songs I strongly associate with Hugo—is also dyslexic. Love these little coincidences 🥹

There's a catastrophic lack of role-reversed covers of The Phantom of the Opera. This song gives such strong Ridenta and Hugo vibes, and I desperately need to hear her growl "SING FOR ME" at him in those final seconds 🥲 Given that Hugo is a countertenor, he'd easily hit every single high note...

Fun fact time In his youth, Björn ended up apprenticing for an artisan in Kilkenny who used his connections to procure dead bodies for study. Despite the initial shock, he stayed to learn. That’s why his sketches and statues are so anatomically accurate. |• #art #oc #meme #sketch #redraw •|

“A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head.”

A manuscript page of a Carthusian monk on his knees (Claude) in awe before a woman (Julia) wearing a blue and gold cape, and a crown of twelve stars. There are illuminations in red and gold on a blue and ochre background. The text of the chant Signum Magnum appears in the background.

Sharing for those who want to keep reading the story (I also share it on insta)

Claude is upset because he acted like a voyeur and Julia saw him.

Brother Martin enters Claude study and they speak about a disease affecting children in town. Julia (La Rousse) is mentioned and Claude is upset again.

Claude insists on following Church doctrine and is angry at the idea that Julia is able to treat children. But his emotions are confused and he sort of mistakes arousal for self-righteousness.

The birth of an obsession 😌 and the start of the story! ❤️

The Thursday evening bells had just completed their solemn toll as Claude limped alongside the outskirts of Dijon. His weekly constitutional had become his one indulgence; a brief respite from the stone walls and rigid schedule of the Chartreuse. The damp autumn air aggravated his right leg, a reminder of a childhood’s punishment that had marked him as different. Unworthy.

A flicker of light caught his attention. A cottage set back from the path, its window glowing amber against the deepening twilight. Claude knew this dwelling. The healer woman’s home.

He should have continued walking.

“No! She sees me… she knows!”

As he hurried back toward the monastery, Claude composed the sermon he would deliver should their paths cross again. About the dangers of fraternization. About pagan practices and loose morals. About the sacred versus the profane.

Yet, even as the words formed in his mind, other details demanded his attention…

That night, as he knelt on the cold stone floor of his cell, the flagellum bit into his back with extra vigor.

But even as blood trickled down his spine, Claude knew with sickening certainty that next Thursday would find him walking the same path again.

Claude is living a religious experience, seeing the Archangel Saint Michael with Julia’s features 🤭

Drawing in blue and gold of Claude practicing self-flagellation in front of a giant painting of the archangel Saint Michael, who appears with Julia’s features. There’s blood on the painting, on the flour and on Claude. The archangel’s cross seems to come out of the painting and pierce through Claude’s heart (I let you interpret the meaning of that). Claude is obviously aroused.
