Been reading The Scarlet Letter and after kind of a slow build up it's finally giving me what I'm here for 😚🖤

His inward trouble drove him to practices more in accordance with the old, corrupted faith of Rome than with the better light of the church in which he had been born and bred. Little preview for my current WIP story. I feel like I'm really venturing into hyper specific tastes with this one 🤓 How will Claude deal with this problem? Spoiler: it involves his cleric spell Spiritual Weapon.

On top of an already impressive stature, more and more he must appear to an initial beholder as a brute, and less and less like the learned man he held himself up to be. How the physique resembled a beast of the field, muscles rippling and taut while copulating in the grass without intellect or reserve! Such an image made the cleric blush and he endeavoured to banish it from his mind.

Still, he could not help but ponder how this sudden shift in lifestyle must be affecting the loftiness of his soul, and if it had not awakened his flesh to new appetites for the world, which he always endeavoured for so many years to put to death. No longer did he partake in only the plainest of foods for sustenance. No longer passing long hours in the placid monotony of chores (though combat proved no less physically demanding). And no shortage of beautiful women in all manner of shape and dress passing before him in daily life.

Even onions and garlic, which were generally avoided for their high heat, had more readily found their way into his diet through whatever meals were presented to him. Claude shuddered to imagine what excess of humoral blood this might produce in a body whose natural and healthy condition was inclined to be phlegmatic, and its subsequent transformation into vital seed, which the amassing heat in his stomach must create in his sexual organs. Condemned forever by his vows, how full and

over-burdened those unfortunate orbs must be—a dangerous thought, to which his treacherous flesh responded with a flood of unbidden arousal. Immediately he perceived the abyss before him, and his fingertips curled into the sheets at each side of his hips.

But on the whole Claude flattered himself by noting no significant change in his temperament or dispositions, and no greater inclination toward sinful overindulgence than was familiar to him, in spite of his great anxiety prior to departing on his travels. Furthermore, returning to divine service under a holy house of Ilmater over the last few days, rudimentary as it was, had quelled any lingering passions… It occurred to him in the moment that he could not recall the last time he received relief for that specific “tension”.

So why was it that, on this ill-fated afternoon, this dreadful itch so quickly began to resurface beneath his skin? And the longer he struggled to erase it from his mind, the more forcefully his unfulfilled bodily need impressed itself against his nerves. Its restless energy coiled in his lap, sinuously tendrils reaching up his spine and into the muscles of his back, until the faded scars across his skin cried out for a fresh bouquet of lashes to be added to their midst. Certainly, the sting of his scourge would make him master of his flesh once more.

No, I cannot.

Very soon he must return to the battlefield and, tasked with protecting so many innocents, he could not risk compromising any ounce of his physical constitution. Scarcely had time passed since he knelt in prayer. How ridiculous it was, to now entertain an act which hadn't occurred in his brain for months! Little did Claude believe those trembling hands were his own, as he took hold of the mass of fabric hanging about his legs and drew it up over himself. Holding his breath, he pulled the hefty garment off his shoulders and gave it a long look before draping it over the foot of the bed. The air shook in his chest as he exhaled.
