Man, this weekend was a nonstop series of Ls for me. Morally, physically, schedule-y, gamingly. Can't run away from that, just take it on the chin and move on to a better week.

🎉🥳 LIVE! With my Twitch Affiliate Anniversary... which is like regular streaming, but we throw around birthday hats. I've got on deck: Nighthawks, Control Resonant, Hellraiser Demo, Twisted Tower. Which ones should I play today? www.twitch.tv/khalior

When I knew all the names of the day-to-day players on my server, it felt like I was stuck in a closed room with a bunch of toxic people and regular people that just wanted to enjoy the game. Cross-servers and LFD brought some fresh air in social spaces.

Khalior @khalior.bsky.social · 25/09/2026

I'll play the game for myself and my friends, but I don't think we'll stay in there for very long. "But the Vanilla community..." Oh I have a very different recollection. Politics, ninja looting, power trips, reputation smearing campaigns, gameplay sabotage...

3 Suggestive Growths - Interesting Games of September 2026

Wow. Too much, game. Back it up.

000

Khalior @khalior.bsky.social · 21/09/2026

It's so funny to see people react to the 1998 Blade movie, wondering why there's a club in a meat packing factory... They've probably never heard about rave culture or at least how raves used to be at that time.

000

Khalior @khalior.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

And it's weird to hear they don't want the game to be solved, but if most of the Classic content remains exactly the same, the leveling addons will just need to make a few tweaks and call it a day. I just want the experience to be slooooooooooow.

000

Khalior @khalior.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

In past expansions, it's been demoralizing to hear of people reaching max level within a few hours of launch, when most players hadn't even finished installing the expansion content yet. Leveling used to be about the journey - not a task to knock off ASAP.

101

Khalior @khalior.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

The one thing I'm genuinely worried about WoW Forever is the XP gain. If you want this to be about the journey, enforce it. Make leveling difficult. It takes about a week in Classic right now (with optimized routes) to go 1-60. Should at least double that.

Like, I get it, but I would've workshopped the name for WoW Forever a bit more. It doesn't feel right. A little cursed. A little unwashed incel vibes. I'm going to refer to it as something else, for sure.

Big day for Blizzard as it announces Diablo V, the StarCraft shooter, and more. I spoke to Blizzard president Johanna Faries about why they revealed new games for 2029 and 2030 (!), whether StarCraft will ever return as an RTS, and the looming Xbox layoffs: www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...

AND IT'S NOT LIKE WE'RE SO STARVED WITH GAMES TO PLAY HELLO GAMERS SNAP OUT OF THIS PSYCHOSIS

000

Khalior @khalior.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

...I'm expecting public testing in 2029. You'll hear rumors of private testing in 2028, maybe 2027 if friends and family testing leaks. So probably we won't be hearing much in 2027, and things will start to heat up in 2028. If you start to write a timeline, it makes sense.

100

Khalior @khalior.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

The 2030 Starcraft date overreaction. It's 3 years. Because let's be honest we'll blink and we're in 2027 already. Also, a vibe cinematic and no gameplay means typically they're on year 2 of a 6 year cycle (or 3 of 7 -ish), which tracks with Jason S.' report. And so...

Khalior @khalior.bsky.social · 13/09/2026

I was not ready for... all of this. Also: man, I might need to quit my day job to take care of all the gaming I'll do in the next few months. 😅

The video game industry has always been volatile (I published Press Reset in 2021!) but the skeleton key to understanding the current state of things is this: Big games now cost 10x to make what they did 15 years ago but most do not generate even close to 10x the revenue. Simple as that

I don't quite understand why some people are disappointed the Gamescom ONL. It's the same as all the other Geoff events, serving the usual things. I was actually more surprised at certain things here than I was for the last Summer Game Fest and TGA.
