In the lord of the rings the hobbits wear old British victorian suits which is very weird and anachronistic imo for a fantasy setting and obviously contemporary to Tolkien, but then I was thinking how in One Piece they wear t-shirts which is kind of the same thing.

I have this view of the current AI industry which is not completely uncharitable but I think that they have one demand only, and if that demand isn't met, they give themselves permission to accelerate as fast possible: Get the US government to negotiate a pause with China.

Can they stop making superintelligent text predictors and just make little robit companions? Like, stop training text predictors to hack everything and solve every problem and focus on algorithms for efficient real time voice and vision even if they're not super smart.
