Kenny Tete is 'fine'. I would have accepted him (or someone of his level) in the Friedkins first window, or last summer, or last January. 4 windows to wheel out a RB who can't get in the Fulham team (also played us for chumps 12 months ago). Sorry, I can't see it as anything but pure incompetence.

I've treated a lot of the work the club up until this point with the benefit of the doubt. The RB and Armstrong situation means they've lost that benefit of the doubt from me (and I assume a hell of a lot of the fan base). It will take a lot for them to get the trust back.

Said the other day, I'd accept getting Richy & Grealish, while losing Ndiaye. As long as after the 3 deals have been down we have still made more that £40m profit from that. I also said that after 4 windows looking for a RB, anything below a Munoz/Doue is a complete and utter failure from the club.

People can say Armstrong wants out, so we may need to sell someone who doesn't want to be here. But I remember Everton using the same line for Michael Ball, Richard Dunne, Jeffers, Rodwell & Rooney. We now know it was bollocks & we just wanted them out. So forgive me for being very sceptical.

That deal is a perfect example of why we need to be patient with this new regime. Had we signed him and let McNeil go in January, we'd had been happy and £15m down compared to how it actually went. Rome wasn't built in a day.
