I feel there is still an unfamiliarity and distrust with it. Too long big names have touted that it is overkill for xyz reason. Not enough of the community has talked about its benefits. And the average web developer is not versed enough in a small bit of devops needed to understand it.

I interestingly had a somewhat similar thing happen last night. I typically only minorly use the free CoPilot for its auto complete. But I have been using the Agent mode to help me write a suite of PHPStan rules I’ll be releasing soon, since many of them are similar it’s helpful to copy.

Haven’t used Mago, I’ll have to check it out. Though I will say despite the warning, PHP CS Fixer has no problems being run with PHP 8.4. Been doing so for a couple of months now with no issue.

The speed of writing code has never, and will never be the bottleneck. The bottleneck, the limiting factor, is always in the thinking about the code and how it works, understanding it. People who use chatgpt to write code are literally removing the only part of programming that is actually useful.
