I actually managed to pose two kits this weekend! The HG Murasame Kai is a very good kit and quite solid' but unfortunately the articulation is a bit wonky in some areas. Still, as usual though, it looks great on the shelf and was a very fun time overall! #gundam #gunpla #anime #bandai #plamo

Going through the kits I still have packed so I could find my Goufs to take a picture with the Ignited and I found the Revive and Custom! I’m missing the shield somehow but I also found my System Weapon sets and I kinda want to do a full custom weapon set on a Gouf Custom now lol

This is such a cool looking kit! It’s just as good as all the Seed Freedom kits that have come out in the last couple years and I think it’s a pretty good looking version of the Gouf even if I think the backpack makes it a bit too busy looking #gundam #gunpla

Good morning

The "guy pulling off the calendar to show that it's going back to 1984" meme but the woman is saying "The cluster of colonies furthest from the earth, called Side 3, proclaimed itself the Principality of Zeon and launched a war or independence against the Earth Federation", and the guy is pulling off the calendar page to reveal that the new page says "Jaunary UC 0079".

I did a sculpture called Axion which was a sphere suspended in an armillary like structure. It would be similar to this piece, but also different

A sphere suspended in an armillary type structure. The sphere is various shades of blue while the structure is various metallics with reds and blues.

I guess the reason all that Backrooms stuff has never really fazed me is because I worked in on-site networking support for a while, and literally every city's downtown district is just Like That once you get off the beaten path. Not just the really big cities, either; the one I'm currently living in has a population of less than 250 000 - metro area included - and a downtown area about six blocks across, and the service corridors still manage to do some House of Leaves shit. At one point I was trying to map the route of a misbehaving network cable, started out in a shopping mall parking garage, and ended up surfacing in the basement of the casino across the street. Totally unsecured - apparently neither the mall's administration nor the casino's managers knew that particular service corridor existed.

Like, I once bumped into a fully stocked and operational Coke machine in an unlit maintenance corridor twenty feet below ground level. Its display lighting was the only illumination for a hundred yards in either direction. I don't even know what it was plugged into.

Somewhere below this city there's a room the size of a high school gymnasium filled floor to ceiling with rotting mattresses. I've seen it with my own eyes - and, more importantly, smelled it with my own nose. I can't recommend the experience.

prokopetz Aug 27, 2024
(That last one isn't even mysterious. The room in question is within easy walking distance of the basement of a major hotel, if you know where you're going; I imagine the hotel started stashing their old mattresses there at some point rather than pay to have them hauled away, and over the ensuing decades the situation got out of hand.)

In response to a couple of recurring questions in the notes:

1. I don't have any experience with the weirder corners of university campuses - my work in that particular job just never happened to take me there. I did, however, once have to do a cable trace in the basement of a former Christian elementary school. It had haphazardly been subdivided into numerous tiny rooms, some as little as ten feet across, with no central hallways or apparent floor plan. Every single room was, for reasons that were and remain unclear to me, full of broken kitchen appliances. One room in particular contained an enormous industrial freezer unit that was larger in its smallest dimension than any of the doors leading to it. Was it delivered in pieces and assembled on site? Did they build the room around it? That one still
bothers me a little bit.

2. No, I did not drink the Morlock Tunnel Coke.
What are you, nuts?

went to a red robin yesterday and took a few pictures. i really like this bean, he's so mischevious looking i have also decided to name this bean Ozmo, since 'Ozzie' or any variant of that didn't feel right for him

What I kinda need to do: more paintings for E. Hampton Pride What I really need to do: clean the house and deal with the garden omg What I wanna do: make more silly earrings #MakeAThing

Each photo is of a pair of earrings I've made. This one has surprised little plastic grabs and a big blue clear bead.

These ones have plastic cabbage charms and some crystals.

Carrot earrings with little golden stars.

Earrings with big honking plastic goose charms and colorful little star beads.

I have submitted a deck of playing cards to @romancingthevote.com Honored to contribute my silly merwoerm art to the auction. Somethin' different! 😂

A hand holding a playing card deck splayed so that the art on the back repeats. The art is a mermaid worm on a string toy with rainbow fins, so the effect is a dozen yellow worm faces peeking out around one another.

I've been doing toy photography in public for years and my guiding principle is "don't bother people." Don't block paths, don't stand in front of focal points for too long, etc. If you're in a busy restaurant, take ONE good picture then move along. Use a macro mode to blur people in the background.

withered finglesnap (normal finglesnap has yet to be acquired)

The secret rare plush from series 2 of the Helluva Nuggets collectibles. I'm pretty sure this is supposed to be one of the Fizzeroli robots but messed up? I haven't watched Helluva Boss yet due to lack of interest, but I did misname this plush as "Withered Finglesnap" once because I couldn't remember Fizzeroli's name, and the name stuck.

Wormy Nights is a piece from Art Fight 2019 where someone recreated Starry Night using a person’s Worm on a String character. It featured this same character drawn 3296 times, and is one of the funniest drawings I’ve ever seen in my life. It is a true work of art.

probably going to switch this over to being dedicated to toy photography as a whole, since i haven't been that dedicated to worms on strings in what feels like years, and kevin (the yellow worm in my pfp) is currently in storage :( still have a bunch of toys i could take pictures of though!
