Twenty-five years ago, I was sleeping on the West coast when Dad called. "Proximity," which appeared in this past issue of @varietypack.bsky.social, is a fictionalized account of those days in September, albeit one too real. varietypack.net/2793-2/

This worked yesterday. Go Bonas.
The front of the 1977 Topps card of Bob Lanier shows the Bonnie grad defending against Wes Unseld. Lanier has his left arm extended toward Unseld and his right arm raised to guard against a pass. Unseld holds the ball over his head with both hands. The reverse side of the card notes Lanier graduated from St. Bonaventure and was the number 1 pick in the 1970 NBA draft. In a circle in the upper left there is a cartoon drawing that notes Bob was the MVP of the 1974 NBA All-Star game.

Proud to have a story published in the latest issue of Sinking City. sinkingcity.as.miami.edu/the-mole/
sinkingcity.as.miami.edu
The Mole – sinking city
After years of daily inspections, contorting his body to see his back and behind, pulling his hair apart so he could examine his scalp, checking between his toes as well as the soles of his feet, Chase finally saw something that looked a bit unusual. It was a mole. Well, he wasn’t actually sure it was a mole, but it was some new mark on his skin, and it was easiest for Chase to mentally refer to it as the mole. He found it on his back, slightly higher than the midpoint and just a smidge to the left of his spine. The mole was in a place that easily could have gone undetected unless one had a partner point it out, or, as was the case with Chase, one was carefully checking their skin, using a handheld mirror in combination with the one on his bathroom wall.

Halftime for the Bonnies. 2 early fouls called Moore 1, just 1, 3-pointer made 0, zero, NO fouls called on Joes. And yet we got a tie game.

Bonas has to get Lajae Jones to shoot more. He’s taken 19 fewer shots (while making 11 more) than Hinton despite playing far more minutes. He’s made 11 more three-pointers than Moore while attempting only one more. He’s made 4 more threes than Council despite taking 10 fewer.

Couldn’t watch the game tonight so had time to browse while tracking online. TIL Gibson Jimerson is a year younger than Jason Tatum. Taking nothing away from the Billikens, but is it really fair that the Bonnies had to face Almost Jason Tatum?

I believe Seaver said he didn’t have his best stuff on this day in 1978 but that he recognized no-hitters involve some luck. He always thought his near perfect game against the Cubs in 1969 was one of his best. Have to think he had some of his best when he struck out 19 Padres (last 10) in 1970.

Good end to the half. Hinton’s best game so far. Moore zero points and two fouls, and Bonnies gave up lots of offensive rebounds while he was out.

31 December 1995. Still the perfect goodbye.
The final Calvin and Hobbes cartoon. The entire page is mostly white as they're in the winter snow. The pair is walking with a sledge, nicely duffled in in scarves, hats, gloves. Calvin delightedly exclaims 'wow, it really snowed las night! Isn't it wonderful?'. Hobbes follows up with 'Everything familiar has disappeared! The world looks brand-new!' -- A new year... a fresh, clean start!' adds Calvin. As they look over the landscape, Hobbes observes 'it's like having a big white sheet of paper to draw on!' -- 'A day full of possibilities!' Calvin affirms. They get ready on their sledge and Calvin tells his friend 'it's a magical world, Hobbes, ol' buddy... let's go exploring!', and the pair sledges off into the wintery landscape.

On the days he’s not doing Bracketology is it Lunardi’s job to put up the hoops standings on espn? That’s the only reason I can think of why the mighty A10 teams are listed by winning percentage EXCEPT St. Joes (tied for 8th) is listed first.
