We welcome Gil Vantomme as a new PI in the Cellular and Circuit Neuroscience group at the University of Amsterdam! @swammerdamuva.bsky.social @uva.nl He studies circuit mechanisms underlying cognition and neurological disorders. Gil obtained his PhD from the University of Lausanne in 2020 and (1/2)

🧠 What makes a memory stick? Not all neurons join a memory engram—only a select few. Our new study shows that the AMPA receptor subunit GluA1 keeps this process sparse and efficient. Without it, too many neurons activate, but memory gets worse! 🔗https://bit.ly/3CAx6TD
