As John Muir Laws says, “It’s the pencil miles.” Drawing is a skill that comes with practice. Here are 3 drawings of a Titmouse that I did over about 3 years with hundreds of different drawings in between. 🪶🖌️✍️ #Drawing #NatureJournal #DailySketch #BirdArt
Drawn on January 1, 2020. A pencil sketch of a Titmouse that has the basic look of a Titmouse, but is a rudimentary drawing. The very first sketch I did when I started drawing every day…still going today about 1,846 days later. Drawn on December 5, 2021.
The same Titmouse as my very first daily sketch. More detail and better proportions than the first sketch. Drawn on January 19, 2023.
My third sketch of the same Titmouse. Much better proportions and attention to detail.

There is a Hibiscus shrub next to the parking lot of the place where I buy mealworms 🐛 The summer flowers 🌺 are lovely but the seed heads in winter ❄️ are wonderfully complex and fascinating to #draw 🌿🖌️ #Phenology #NatureJournal #DailySketch (Wide format photo)

I’m not well versed at abstraction when I #draw and #paint, my mind just doesn’t work that way. However, playing about with #embroidery 🧵 has forced me to dabble in the abstract.
