@themathguru.bsky.social Vanessa Vakharia nailed it: teachers need to learn the math they teach in a way they finally understand. Not more procedures. Conceptual relearning, with the vertical thread visible. I’m still doing that work alongside my teachers. That’s where the shift begins.

Tried a modified version of @kimrimbey.bsky.social side-by-side math today. It was awesome! Ss worked in trios - one would build, one used expanded form algorithm and one used standard algorithm. They worked together & the discussed how each are connected. #edusky #mtbos #elementarymath
