Not here for pointless arguments, and if you want that my method is block early and without regret. Living the dream in the deep south Pacific. Probably lots of dog photos, beach and bush. I swear, a lot. I make a lot of typos.

Potentially, but im sure that would cost more money so wont be of interest to the parties who think we put too much value on human lives.

Voices for Freedom founder gloats that they have been able to influence New Zealands vote at the UN, as the foreign minister is a man who leads a party who's core constituency is now assorted anti-vaxxers and 'wellness' grifters Crossposted with @openvibe.social

A screenshot of a social media post by Alia Bee reading, “For all those who think their voices don't matter... They do, and it's such fun to witness the meltdown. Bring it.” Below is an embedded post from Helen Clark, with a verified account badge, criticising New Zealand's abstention from a United Nations General Assembly vote on a political declaration concerning pandemic prevention, preparedness and response. The post states that 153 countries voted in favour, three against, and New Zealand and Paraguay abstained. A link to a UN News article is included, along with a screenshot of UN Web TV showing the vote tally, with country names and voting positions displayed in columns.

Just for shits and giggles this is what a 2 and 3 km exclusion zone looks like around Port Taranaki.
A view of New Plymouth with two circles centred on the Port, large parts of the city are within the circles.

I guess its down to how you define worse. The sprawling subdivisions can be pretty shit. Theres some horrible apartments in downtown Remuera with high walls and automatic gates surrounding mansions Theres pockets of bad everywhere. Plenty of good to go along with the bad though.

My day is not improving
A photo of a computer screen with the words "Updates are underway. Please keep your computer on." There is a blurry reflection on the screen of a person who is wondering why the fuck they bothered getting out of bed this morning.

Why does this need a fast track? Nothing against the store, dont know much about it, but fast tracking consents seems odd. Costco megastore step closer in Christchurch

A Costco megastore in Christchurch is a step closer with the government giving the US-based company the go-ahead to lodge a fast-track application.

"This makes its presence undesirable in a port or near any built up areas," "Safety is an absolute bottom line." "Of all the proposals submitted in response to MBIE's ROI, in-port options at Port Taranaki were found to be the most practical, safe and reliable." Fuck me.

This election (like every election) is a contest between two ideas: extraction vs investment. The idea that you should be planting trees whose shade you will never sit beneath OR we should cut down that tree now because there’s a quid in it.

Im at the stage of a project where I have literally spent months doing the essential invisible work, like the base of a pyramid, but more like Mauna Loa, and i am so close to the glory work that is so satisfying. BUT, theres a few hours of hidden essentials left and I'm impatient, DFIUK...

I do wonder what it must be like being Liz Truss' security detail. Like: MONDAY: Easy day. Liz distracted by a sunbeam for 9hrs straight. TUESDAY: Spent 4hrs searching. We knew she was somewhere indoors. Was trapped in linen cupboard. WEDNESDAY: Fascist conference appearance

I dont know if it just because im a bit worn out at the moment but I am starting to see how easy it must be to slide into curmudgeon mode as you age. It actually appears an attractive option at times. Not necessarily the stuck in the mud part, but telling everyone to fuck off has its appeal.
