I think we need a general boycott wherein we all stop buying non-essential goods until the economic fallout yields corporations themselves pressuring a change. If even 10% of Americans did so the impact would be dramatic. Way more than 10% of us want this racist administration gone.

Long ago a bio-physics prof teammate who is a bit of a training expert suggested that to get better at running I needed to run in zone 2. When I ran at all my heartrate soared to 180. I stopped running due to other things. A decade of cycling training later I can barely run faster than zone 2. 1/3

Yesterday I tried to do the "long" SST workout on #Zwift but lacked the fortitude and bailed after 2/3 sets. Rolled over 10,000 mi for the year though. There are commutes and errands that aren't on Strava so I look like I'm 130 mi shy. I'm also only 156 km into #Festive500. Guess I've riding to do.

I've been regularly making overnight oats: Stir equal parts oats and OJ in a bowl with a splash of vanilla and pinch of salt, the next day add blueberries, walnuts, yogurt, & cinnamon. Sometimes I grate half an apple in overnight, usually I add hot honey in the morning. Always it makes me happy.

After 9 months of work: Happy Christmas to me! Yes, that's a Specialized Project '74 I'm riding in #Zwift while sporting a sprint jersey. It only took climbing 15,000m on one bike and riding 1,600km apiece on two others to earn the right to buy it (and I had to ride a TT bike 40 hrs in there too).

Yesterday I was a blob and didn't ride my bike at all or feel like doing much of anything. I went to bed early, set no alarm, and woke naturally but I also started coughing in the night. No surprise, my #Ouraring says that my temperature is elevated 0.3C among other things. 1/5

Not much going on here. J and I both had #Zwift races. I got🥉and he got 5th. Wanted the W but my legs are pretty rubbish after🥈last night. We both have Advent calendars. Mine is chocolate. His has a bread board. Unrelated, he baked actual bread on Sunday and prepped to bake me another pumpkin pie.

Three months without a drink. I haven't lost any weight, mostly because I have replaced evening drinks with late-night snacking, but I haven't gained either. I am sleeping very well, and I am also racing very well (though that's probably training). I am kinda scattered. Hopefully that fades.

All is well. J got a buck. My squad has now won both #ZRL races this round. Paks & Emmie are happy but miss J. Post-hunting, he's helped hang drywall and install a door in the polebarn at the dome. The plants seem happy indoors (hibiscus & cactus blooming). Glad the snow melted. I wasn't ready.

Not much going on here. Training for real. Racing bikes and winning. Glad for some hopeful world developments. Open windows and snuggling doggos. A furloughed friend may help me lay down a few tracks this week yet. J is getting fitter and doing well too. He's baking me cookies later.

Today in weird observations: I had a dance party in the kitchen while loading the dishwasher and paying bills. I always listen to music for these activities, why the joyful movement today? It's the socks. Barefoot summer is great but you can't slide and spin until it's cold. Also, this happened.

They're not spoiled at all. Also, I won my first #Zwift race in a while last night. It felt good. My squad had a rider with serious connection issues throughout the race finish near the back but we still got 🥉 and would definitely have won if she had even been middle of the pack.

I've been racing on #Zwift since 2020 and a lot of my best numbers have come from racing for ATP. Today I stumbled upon this, which apparently includes all my bests. It's both nice that I'm close in some ways to where I was before breaking my leg but also note the yawning gaps. So close but so far.

At my company our executives don't all take the same airplane anywhere. Folks do sometimes meet in person but we've deemed that to be an acceptable risk because, importantly, we're not the military. In addition to Tuesday leaving our troops without local leadership, how is this an acceptable risk?

Somewhere out there is an expectant mother with a fever. Yesterday she would have happily taken meds to bring her fever down, knowing that her fetus is more at risk from her fever than acetaminophen. Happy World Car-Free Day! Ride your bike, take the bus, walk, or like me, work from home. I biked to church and my volunteer shift at The Bike Project yesterday but don't have any plans today. I'll work, we'll likely take the dogs for a walk, and I may wash bedding and hang it to dry in the sun.

I got 150 minutes of Zwifting in, over half of which was perfect Metabolic Training. Jesse rode a bike to volunteer at Parkrun and brought me a croque monsieur. We drove to a nearby town to get covid & flu vaccines and then went to a lovely party where the Marching Illini Mini Band played. Good day.

As usual with this issue, Harris is calling for a compromise that already exists. Every sporting body has standards for how long athletes must be on hormones before they can compete as women. The problem isn’t that we’re ignoring ‘reasonable concerns,’ the problem is that republicans are lying.

I agree with the concerns expressed by
parents and players that we have to take into account biological factors such as muscle mass and unfair student athletic advantage when we determine who plays on which teams, especially in contact sports,, Harris writes. "With goodwill and common sense, I believe we can come up with ways to do this, without vilifying and demonizing children."
