I resonate with the philosophy of “use the difficulty” as it relates to challenges with long-term health conditions. We know It’s not easy, but if we reframe our relationship to what can I do, that is empowering & increases locus of control. When there are no cures, adaptation & management are key.

@paintoolkit.bsky.social & I offer our limited experience with AI & our thoughts on how it can be beneficial for people living with pain & other long-term health issues. The AI landscape is developing extremely fast. Where will it go & how fast will it get there? We’d love to hear your thoughts.

Another interesting conversation with @paintoolkit.bsky.social. It’s important to be prepared for one’s appointment with a healthcare provider. It’s challenging living with & managing persistent pain & other conditions. For some (many), medical appointments can be stressful, for several reasons.

Today’s conversation with @paintoolkit.bsky.social could have been a two-parter. When we talk about the “cost” of living with persistent pain, the financial costs are important, but as important are the psychological, emotional, social, and other environmental costs.

Today’s blog post: “Motion is lotion.” “Movement is medicine.” Two of the most common phrases in chronic pain care, highlighting the importance of moving our bodies as part of supported self-management. I prefer to see meaningful movement as therapy, not medicine. www.facebook.com/share/p/1Abk...

Some people are concerned about their run times. I have mitochondrial disease, which affects my energy & strength. A friend shared this: “You are a runner right now. Not when you finish a certain race. Not when you run a certain pace. Not when you look a certain way. Now. Simply because you run.”

@paintoolkit.bsky.social & I talked about how to find your most effective meaningful movement. When living with long-term health conditions, we must always be vigilant to not harm ourselves. However, there are often opportunities to safely & gently explore movement & challenge preconceived limits.

Connecting with nature, in whatever form one can, is important for managing pain. For the science nerds like me, I touch on the biology behind this, but what’s important is that it works for many people. Nature is medicine.
