So I'm gonna and try to pick up this copy of DCC. If it is still available, then fate meant for me to have it, if not then... well not.

So I was making my semi regular trip to the town waterstones to stand baffled at the gaming section and there was a copy of Dungeon Crawl Classics. I was sorely tempted to get it. Thing is I already have Basic Fantasy and I like it plenty. Is DCC worth it if I already have BF?

It continues to baffle me that there are people out there who genuinely say "bro just homebrew 5th Ed, it's just as good bro"

Throwback to that time in university when a guy punched me in the stomach for not buying the latest Ed Sheeran album. Imagine physically attacking someone because they don't want to pay for wedding playlist filler, let alone listen it. What a fucking dork.

I think the lore from the old necrons codex is underappreciated.

I've occasionally encountered the take that grimdark fantasy or hard ttrpgs are fascistic coded. I think this basically comes down to a certain kind of guy who embodies a gatekeeping nerdy machismo and rarely the actual content of either.

Was the fight with the Fire Dragons in Spyro 3 always terrible because it was gruelling in the reignited version. I blame what they did to the super flame, I swear it is smaller and harder to hit with.

I just heard Space Marines are going up to Toughness 5 on top of the 2 Wounds they got from previous editions. I can't imagine myself playing 40k. Sorry, I just can't. If I ever played again, it'd definitely be 3rd or 4th. There's just so many reasons not to keep up with this game.

I'm rushing through some minis in anticipation of the wargames this Saturday. I've done a roman centurion miniature. I didn't do a great job on him.

I still haven't painted my Bloodbeast miniature, I've lacked a lot of confidence, but it's still my ambition to put the miniature in a dungeon crawl.

I have a plan to run an integrated wargame/rpg over the weekend. The results of the rpg determine what the rpg adventure looks like. I have a simple map, a full outline of scenarios for oathmark, including my own one and some basic plot hooks for encounters and dungeons.

Whilst having a wee clear out I decided to have a poke around for a set of counters I'd bought for general gaming purposes. And much to my annoyance I can't find them ANYWHERE. I'd thought "Oh they must be in a gaming box" but no, I looked in all of them, they are gone.

I finally got around to playing Oathmark. Well, more like refereeing. It mostly went well apart for misreading the rules for shields.

Have come to the Liverpool Book Fair. It's been quite pleasant. Some of the stalls raised an eyebrow, a few conspiracy theory books for sale, and quite a few AI covers. It's rather frustrating, but there's still some earnest writers and artists here. Me and my partner picked up some books and comics

I dunno if it's just the fact that I've been painting trickier miniatures or that I was off my SSRIs for the weekend but the past couple of minis I've been painting have felt more like chores. The DSA orc shaman and the Nolzurs Bugbear came out looking kinda meh to me and weren't as fun.

Keeper @keeper92k.bsky.social · 29/07/2026

I've been painting this Das Schwarze Auge orc shaman miniature all night and I'm kinda unhappy with it. The only decent choices I feel I made are making me question choices I made with another model from the same range. Also, it seems a rather culturally insensitive miniature.

This druidess miniature was an absolute blast to paint. I hope it looks good. The monster was something called a talon terror I picked up in Aberdeen. I think I went a bit too hard on the green, I might correct it with a purple dry brush.

I've finally completed my Gothic Warriors box set. Some shields turned out a bit lumpy, but others turned out better than I expected. I'm rather pleased with myself. Can't wait to pitch them against some goblins. #Wargames #WIP #Nerdlings

24 unnecessarily gaudy orc archers done. I generally speaking hate the flocking stage, even if I never use anything else than PVA and my own flock mix, but I will have to get that done soon, also for the shielded melee orcs finished earlier.

People who say D&D is good at running horror games never actually talk about the mechanics. They default to the aesthetics and window dressing that can be part of ANY rpg system.

The Odyssey was a fantastic film. I had a great time watching it with my boyfriend. I've been going to the cinema a bit more recently, normally I see about one movie per year. I feel like this has been a pretty decent year for films so far, even if I didn't like Project Hail Mary.
