I always loved the way Sam sold Alan's disdain for children morphing into a genuine, "I would die for them" love for Lex and Tim. I know it's a trope, especially for Spielberg, but it is my favorite version of that trope.

I'm personally offended that Valve didn't pack a 9800X3D, 64 GB of DDR5, and a 5090 into the Steam Machine and sell it for a nickle along with a steak and kidney pie, a cup of coffee, a slice of cheesecake, a newsreel, and a trolley ride to pick the thing up.

My thesis is that liberal democracy created a perfect vessel through capitalism to transfer wealth and consolidate power in a slow enough manner that the people suffering from it were frogs in a slowly boiling pot and the people benefiting from it got bored enough to just set the world on fire.

You get 8 episodes that are either a rushed story, or an overlong, under-edited movie, the show generates buzz for two months, people forget about it by the time the next season rolls around 2+ years later, it gets zero advertising, then gets cancelled for low ratings. I dislike this era of TV.

A nurse I was talking to yesterday said she had to do paperwork for a prior authorization for amlodipine. You can get that for around $5/mo with one of those rx cards. Insurance companies rent-seek, and that means less healthy people, and more preventable deaths. It's disgusting.
