interesting that conservatives were militantly “we must reward hustle” when the target was affirmative action at elite universities and now, when faced with the success of south asians and other groups, it is “i think we are too meritocratic”

The Manhattan Institute has many serious scholars and policy people critical to the NYC civic dialogue, and Reihan Salam does a remarkable job of keeping the conservative perspective relevant, sometimes indispensable.
It's hard to imagine why this vital institution has in its ranks a scholar so secure in his beliefs that he uses his podcast to put forward this particular example of "just asking a question."

This sucks, and AI sucks and one reason for the high prices mentioned in the story is that the biggest provider of school photos in the US is owned by multi-billion dollar private equity company Apollo Global Management.

Seemingly about nothing and everything all at once. The imagery takes me to a memory of when I saw the sky exactly like this over a decade ago. I still see the stars so clearly in such an impossibly large number compared to the “normal” night sky. How beautiful.

I don’t know what you do with Underwood. It seems like putting him out there is setting him up for failure and yet pulling him will unleash the media. Guess that’s why these coaches get millions, but I’m not confident at all in this staff’s decision making.

Another one there. That’s not the OC almost throwing another interception there.

All over the back shoulder. If they’re gonna try to get to that it needs to be from the slot. Run off the corner and give the slot room.

What is Underwood even doing there? Throw it away! That’s why as much as the OC is letting this whole team down, Bryce is not doing himself or the team any favors.

Tsundoku Artist @kbsutt.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
For all the OC hate, which is 100% legitimate, you just can’t throw the ball into the line on a 3 man rush when you’re as tall as Underwood.

Tsundoku Artist @kbsutt.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
There’s ownership to go around. Setting Underwood aside, Hiter can’t handle the mesh point on reads and yet the OC is calling them time after time w/him in the game. OL is struggling. The horizontal run game is forced and garbage. 5 games in and I hate the OC so far.

Right my problem is there’s no way that Bryce knows what he’s needs to do vs this look bc they never run this. The theory of it is good, it’s what I wanted the O to be in August. But they can’t execute. So much of this all year.

If Michigan somehow wins this game they should give the defense the plane and tell the offense to take a bus home.

he does not value the ball in the pass game, at all -- all of you complaining about the run game sucking: Minnesota is stacking them and they cannot throw the ball. ever. he's not seeing anything.

There’s more than that. Bad tackling Stupid penalties Players looking lost on offense, eg blocking and a 5* RB who can’t handle the mesh point The bottom line is that this mostly comes down to coaching and isn’t what you expected when bringing in the super experienced, competent old guy.

Despite the defense looking very good over four games, the tackling technique is atrocious and one of a few reasons why this defense is not elite

This type of decision making is how you dominate a team and lose on the last play

Yes, I’ve been told today on this site that the mesh is very hard to learn, and yet I’ve never seen a player do this.

Minnesota pressuring somewhat more and it’s having an effect. Think we’ll keep seeing more and more as we continue to struggle with it. We’re really not doing anything with our early down runs. Minnesota by contrast is throwing early to great effect.

I don’t think everyone realizes how bad things are for US science: For the fiscal year that just ended, the Trump regime withheld $1.4 billion from the National Science Foundation’s research budget, which is about 1/5 of its primary research budget.

The move, affecting about one-fifth of the National Science Foundation’s primary research budget, is the latest sign of how the White House is asserting more control over grants.
