What's scarier than skeletons, ghosts, and spiders? The dystopian world of 2142 in 𝘚𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘠! A govt w a surveil state to rival that in Orwell's 1984 & mandated full separation of the sexes, that's what. Where annihilation of 1 gender may be around the corner. @andrewvargaauthor.bsky.social - yours?

I need some advice from the BS Writing Community regarding websites - help! Currently my Wordpress site is hosted on SiteGround, and it's up for renewal at $400 for 2yrs. Yikes! I'm not broke, but is there a more affordable option that still lets me customize my site? Cheaper host? Wix? BookBub? TY

#TimeTravelAuthors My publishing journey involved a lot of querying, a lot of closed doors in 2020 onward, and being open to hybrid publishing. SCATTERED was born with Silversmith Press's help in 2023. Some flash was up before then, and 2 #timetravel stories in this awesome TT anthology!

#TimeTravelAuthors day 13. Time travel can be confusing! You have to make laws for time travel & stick to them. In SCATTERED, I developed clear cause and effect rules, then I had to set up a spreadsheet to keep it straight. And talk with Mr. B to double check; but a reader may always poke a hole!

Writing a book is weird. You can't do it all in one fell swoop, so it's like a movie is playing in your head, and you're transcribing the movie in real time...but you keeping having to push the pause button to, like, eat and sleep and do laundry and work a day job so you return to the movie later...

#TimeTravelAuthors Days1/3 Elie Rutherford time travels back to Isaac Newton's era to publish the 3 fundamental laws of motion, cementing women's status as primo physicists. HA! Actually, she accidentally time travels to 1906 to 2006 and has a heck of a time living a secret life, trying to return.

#TimeTravelAuthors Day 23 Being an introvert myself, I default to writing introverted characters! In SCATTERED, Will Hertz is definitely so, and especially when he needs to keep a secret, with Elie, from everyone he knows.... In my upcoming (🤞) standalone SF, my MC is also introverted!

I love this! I'll be using this method on my next revision - as well as while writing my newest MS. I usually look at each scene and ask "What is the point?" If it moves the story along, I keep it. This method is deeper.

#TimeTravelAuthors In SCATTERED, Elie is from 1906 and William is from 2006. Since Elie has adjusted fairly well to 2006, I think she's practiced enough to try other periods - and she'd do great in the Regency era. Will is a chill guy, so I think he'd adapt anywhere!

One day late, #TimeTravelAuthors.... but Day 9: In SCATTERED, my favorite setting (besides Montreal itself) is Elie's roommate's apartment. Jeanne is 80 years old and keeps a veritable greenhouse with her south-facing windows. I ❤️to picture Elie amongst the leaves, reading, Chopin in the air...

When I outlined SCATTERED, I had Elie and William as pretty much falling in love immediately. It was more a romance novel than scifi. Then I dialed that back and made them friends with the "will they ever get together?" vibe til the end. Think Jim and Pam, seasons 1-2 of The Office! Much better!

#TimeTravelAuthors day 15 Elie Rutherford isn't up against a hard deadline to go back home to 1906, but she certainly doesn't want to delay it. However, the more time she spends in 2006, the more she's seeing the opportunities (and people) she won't have back home... #timetravel #amwriting
