No. Use Prime Day to boycott the innovation stealing, labour abusing, obscenely wealthy company and buy something from a local shopkeeper instead, even if it costs a bit more, because you can look them in the eye when you buy and bump into them around town later.

WATCH: After approving another climate-killing pipeline, the government now claims it is “avoiding highly sensitive ecosystems.” Today, Elizabeth May demanded to know whether they talked to any scientists before making this deeply flawed decision.

What a ridiculous false dichotomy. I prefer a government that works for the people. It will always be an imperfect - a work in progress, a struggle to represent differing priorities and perspectives and an attempt to best met the needs of the most people. But it's worth the work, despite its flaws.

The Green Party opposed Bill C-5 from the start. Now the Liberals want to remove one of the few limits placed on it. Bill C-5 was meant to sunset after five years, stopping its “national interest” powers from being handed to future governments. Bill C-39 erases that safeguard.
Green Party graphic on a cream background with orange and dark green text. It reads: “The Green Party opposed Bill C-5 from the start.” The graphic says Bill C-5 gave Cabinet extraordinary powers to fast-track projects it calls in the “national interest,” concentrating too much power in government, but that even Bill C-5 came with an expiry date. At the bottom is a green halftone portrait of Mark Carney in front of overlapping clock faces.Green Party graphic on a cream and orange background. Large orange text reads: “Bill C-39 removes that deadline.” It says that if the bill passes, every future government will inherit these powers, including governments with radically different priorities. Highlighted text reads: “Bill C-5 gave government too much power. Extraordinary powers should never come without an expiry date.” A large distressed “EXPIRED DATE” stamp appears across the orange lower half.

Also, anyone who has ever seriously looked into CCS knows it's a waste of time and money. Therefore to claim a pipeline *is* CCS is simultaneously stupid and diabolically clever. I suppose anyone who's stupid enough to believe it works is deluded enough to think a pipeline could do it.

Opinion: Is it really a good idea for the government to subsidize a pipeline?
Designating the West Coast pipeline as a project of national interest exposes a global reality: Fossil fuels haven’t just lost to clean energy – they’ve already lost
