Kyle Baxter @kbaxter.bsky.social · 16/09/2026A significant percentage of this community has some mix of misunderstandings of what AI is and epistemic closure. Kyle Baxter @kbaxter.bsky.social · 14/09/2026My thinking is still evolving, but I tend to think risks of concentration of ownership (both for inference and development) of foundation models in a small number of companies is a more critical risk than risks posed by use of the models, both politically and economically, and geopolitically. 150
Kyle Baxter @kbaxter.bsky.social · 12/09/2026I think an under-discussed part of the OpenAI Summer of Hacks is how woefully inadequate their monitoring must have been to allow agents to not only gain external access and hack other companies, but also take over some of OAI’s own internal systems for extended periods of time. 1120

Kyle Baxter @kbaxter.bsky.social · 28/06/2026It’s pretty cool seeing solar panels ramp up production, charge up the battery and power the house, ramp down as the sun sets, and the battery take over. I don’t *need* to look at this every day, but I’m a dork, so this brings me immense satisfaction right now watching it work. 062
Kyle Baxter @kbaxter.bsky.social · 28/06/2026One fun rabbit hole for home solar is EV charging. EV charging without solar is simple: charge when your rates are lowest (usually overnight)—you set your charge window in your car, plug it in whenever you need to, and it does the right thing. Solar’s a little more complex. 110

Kyle Baxter @kbaxter.bsky.social · 27/06/2026Solar famously produces maximal (and excess) power during the high point of the day. So much so that different jurisdictions are experimenting with free power during that window to soak up excess. Which happens to correspond when cooling is most needed. Kyle Baxter @kbaxter.bsky.social · 22/06/2026This is a good thread. Kyle Baxter @kbaxter.bsky.social · 21/06/2026Under discussed in the EV range anxiety wars is road trip destination charging: not all of it has to be DCFC. Eg on our trip to Big Sur this month, we stayed the night on the way in Pismo Beach. We arrived with ~33%, plugged into the hotel’s level 2 charging, and left the next morning at 100%. 010
