Summits on the air weekend didn’t result in many points but I did manage to activate some memorable ones. Kelso dunes is a series of sand dunes in the Mojave natl preserve. Only 1.5 miles and 600 ft up but one of the most strenuous hikes I’ve ever done.

A closer map of the area where Venera 3 reached the surface of Venus. It could have fallen anywhere in this map. The surface was unknown at the time. These features were seen in Magellan images nearly 30 years later. Most of the area is hilly, with a few volcanic features, some sand dunes and several impact craters.
