A giant of broadcasting and a campaigner. I’ve fond memories of ‘That’s Life’ and her brilliant vox pops. RIP Esther Rantzen www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cq...

My full speech at the Labour for Trans Rights rally at Conference. This is an incredibly difficult time for trans & non-binary people, facing a relentless attack on their rights & dignity. I want everyone in our community to know that I’ll never stop standing alongside you & fighting for equality.

What’s all this about black labradors, pubs and warm beer? My cocker spaniel sits firmly on the left, takes his drinks wherever he can and slurps whatever’s in front of him (bit like me!). Beats labradors any day! #TeamSpaniel

Gutted not to be in Liverpool today. Looking forward to Andy Burnham’s speech later. Hoping for a bold, transformative vision, but with fiscal responsibility. A man with charisma, rather than a dull technocrat. Also missing the @labour4transrights.bsky.social rally 😭😭. I’ll be there in spirit!

Having been to Conference I know of those meeting spaces. They are not massive, comfortable with ~30. Popular fringe meetings there will have people crammed in, standing inside and outside, hoping to get in. Clearly not the case here.

All members of our communities need to feel safe. We need to live by laws of the land. Show whatever flag you want on your own property 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧 (within reason) It is my view that flags on lamposts create divisivion and fear. The council need to take firmer action on those who continue to put them up.

For me it was clear & obvious that Starmer’s Govt had lost credibility. I called for a reset & with Andy as PM we have it. Some involved in Starmer’s Govt. have taken what happened badly. My advice to them is stop making it about you and stop stirring - your time will come. A thoughtful article:-

🚸 Families in Bristol are saving £34.5 million a year thanks to Labour’s rollout of 30hrs free childcare to 9months - 2 year olds. Labour is working hard to give families breathing space. 🌹 We’ve ended the two child limit, expanded free school meals, and brought in new breakfast clubs.

With a Labour Mayor and good public transport (London), air quality limits can be met. Yet in Bristol, with the ‘Green’ Party in charge, air quality worsens and is blamed on the weather. And yet London has been hotter than Bristol! Complete nonsense from Bristol Green Party.

Kaz Self 🏳️‍⚧️ @kazself.com · 18/09/2026

In workplaces & elsewhere, trans people are being bullied. I have had people calling for me to be investigated for a breach of conduct, just for peeing in my workplace. Other trans women have been filmed in toilets & intimidated in public spaces. So it’s good to see the TUC backing trans people 👏.
