Why do right wing guys stand that way? Is there some role model they’re imitating? I didn’t really fully appreciate how awkward that stance is until I saw this overhead view (thanks Helsingin Sanomat) Also, the *look* he’s getting from the guy on the stairs (thanks Helsingin Sanomat photographer)
Right wing podcaster standing in an awkward legs splayed position on some stairs, with his arms positioned slightly away from his body. Behind him a man is climbing the stairs, looking back, as if thinking: Why is he standing like that?Right wing podcaster standing in an awkward legs splayed out position, with his arms hanging awkwardly in front of his body. I don't know what's happened since I last used it, but DeepL is suddenly much worse than it used to be. Here's one obvious example, but in longer texts the degradation in quality is subtle but noticeable.
DeepL is translating the English word "esoteric" into Icelandic, the translation is the word "innri" (inner), once, followed by the word "dularfullur" (mysterious) repeated seven times.

I watched Iron Man 2 with my son. The animators figured out in the first one how to make 2 mechanical dudes hitting each other look good so they went with more is more and had a 100 mechanical men and that was dramatically inert. Meanwhile, the one fight with actual people was the scene that sang.

really, this is a serious question: why on earth would Chris Christie imagine that anyone, anywhere, ever would want him to run for President? what sparks such a delusion? granted, his wife might enjoy having him out of the house & on the campaign trail; but better just get an inexpensive hobby instead.

they say poetry isn’t a profession, but it‘s a professional skill to look out at an audience, realize that it’s full of well-to-do 60 year olds who retired to the countryside, and switch out your poem about Roko’s basilisk and Ea-Nasir for one about an exile who wonders if his horses think he’s dead

All the fun of tthe fair has come to Ger and I am a hair's breadth from running away to become a prostitute robot from the future
Section of dodgem cars with art on the hoarding under the roof saying PLAYMAG against a background of purple and blue stars, a woman with a metal helmet and armour and great eyeliner holds up her hand. To her right. A blue guy and pink woman go at it morphingly in front of a disc of multicoloured segments like something on a game show in space.Detail of another section showing a fully metal woman with a hairless robot head and a visor for eyes dressed in a dark blue slip. She leans forward, hand on hip, the other arm extended with one finger pointed upward. A star of light shines off the upright finger, fairly close to the hing quarters of a naked male figure with legs akimbo. In the background are fluid explosions of pink, yellow, green, blue bubbles, pink bubbles, god I can't take this any moreA woman dressed in similar armous and silver heels, with the difference that panels have been cut out to expose her breats and arse, kneels forward, holding a length of red material in one hand. Behind her is a kind of spacey, computery grid of hexagons such as might be found on 80s TV show Blockbusters, and a distorted screaming mans face with what I think are wires all around it. To the right are bright flashy signs saying "WARNING" and "ACCESS"Finally, another robot prostitue from the future, this one entirely made of silver, perches ranchily with have a pink slip falling off her body, one hand behind her head. She is perched on the word TILT in fat square yellow lettering, and the entire history of neon geometry has gone fucking bonkers behind her

I think focusing on the "sex cult" aspect of the rationalists, while understandable for attention-grabbing, puts the emphasis in the wrong places. Sure, yes, the rats have sex, and because they're a fucked up abusive cult, some of that is fucked up abusive culty sex, but that's not the focus.

Share one of the most obscure TV shows you can think of! Rhythm & Blues bombed so badly it was taken off NBC after three episodes, but I saw all 12 episodes on Icelandic TV. As this review shows, critics hated it because it was “reverse racism” since the white guy was the butt of the jokes.

the ultimate endpoint of reducing art to content is reducing it further to nothing more than raw data raw data isn't much use for anything. it has to be analyzed, cross-references, verified, and put into proper context and framing before it becomes more than just data, more than just "content"
