Exactly! And adults, too. I still recommend them and often get a “oh I really liked them!”. And it’s cool because it’s a series; but you can read them as standalones. I remember reading all of the ones focusing largely on Death during a depressive episode, and it helped get me through.

Audible even releases star-studded renditions over the last few years, meaning there are still variations of the books being sold. And they’re still in every sci-fi+fantasy section I come across.

Additional context, because I’ve been thinking about WHY I gave that answer since: Discworld, as a series, has existed since 1983 until into the 00’s. So it has longevity as a series, while also having 41 novels. And it’s still popular.

Dear Evil One -
Just a Happy Halloween Wish! I hope you took the kids out Trick or Treating and they had a great time!
Tomorrow is All Saints Day and Deb and I will be going to Mass at our local church. It struck me on this Halloween Night that the evil of witches and goblins and such is rooted in the very real evil of Satan. Hate and pain are the hallmarks of evil... the hallmarks of Satan. With all the evil and hate you have demonstrated with me, along with all the pain you have caused, it struck me that just as Deb and I will attend Catholic Mas tomorrow... will you be going to a Black Mass to worship Satan?
It was just a question that came up as we pulled "candy duty" with all the Trick or Treaters.

I think the move to BlueSky was also only fragmental. Not everyone did. And there’s not the same rich well of historical content and context. It’s hard to rebuild that individually, and as a community.

Kat’s dog, Chewie, sat in a yellow chair in front of a window. Chewie gazes at the camera with a look that portrays that you should feel guilty down to your core. Why? Nobody knows, but the soul of the dog.

Chewie is resting his head on the back of the chair, looking forlornly out the balcony window at the rain. Woe is the dog who only had cheese three times today. Cruel treatment.

Chewie stares into the nighttime rain outside, pondering the mistreatment he suffered today. Alas, his afternoon walkies was only one hour long. How is a pup to be universally admired if not exposed to potential friends for longer periods of time?

Chewie has melted into despair. As the chair is effectively a fainting couch on which he laments his woes, his depression grips him deeply. Melancholy: perhaps he will never again know happiness. Perhaps there will be no trays tomorrow. Did he know how bountiful his life was back when snacks were given? Did he take them for granted? Alas, the rain answers not. Our hero is left to suffer.

They’re twins. Actual twins from the same litter. We became friends with Koda’s pawrent through puppy training, and are all really close. So they get to hang out often. Between the two of them, they have one brain cell, and it’s usually with Koda.

Marmite has an actively saltier taste than bovril. Bovril is very “broth with salt” umami, where marmite is a bit more tang-y salty than deep back-of-tongue umami.

Not just saying this as someone in category 2 😅 I don’t think that’s wrong of you. Our energy and time is a commodity, as is the use of our own clout to vouch for a person. When someone doesn’t appreciate or acknowledge the latter, I think it’s fair to limit the first two for that person.

The amount of times I’ve seen scope creep, people get frustrated, the project stalling, everyone losing track etc., because people don’t make a decision and stick with it, but keep going “oh but we could also…” or “wouldn’t it be cool if…” is staggering.
