Coming to a spinalcms.com team near you soon: invite a hosted or BYOK #LLM / #ai agent member. We are testing this internally and it is great way to leave the tedious and repetitious task to do it for me.

The pitch for single page apps was always “it’s faster after the first load”. Google’s Core Web Vitals, used in search ranking, now measure soft navigations. It’s true: LCP drops by about a third. But, I don't think SPAs are ever really worth all the compromises and extra code.
Chart: LCP for 11 single page apps, today vs with soft navigations counted. Most drop sharply, e.g. Netlify 4.72s to 2.36s, Bluesky 4.25s to 2.14s, Airbnb 2.28s to 1.04s. ASOS gets slightly slower. Chrome UX Report, 14 Sep to 11 Oct 2026.

One the coolest (new) features from spinalcms.com is templates ✨ It give you a ready-made starting point for new content. Each collection has a default template that pre-fills body (and frontmatter) of every new resource. Set a default for every new resource or select one by command/right click.

Non-Git teammates can't edit your @astro.build Starlight docs. Add a CMS so they can. You have two choices: an API (headless) CMS, or a git-based one. One takes ten steps. The other takes three. 🤔

Zero-click does not mean zero-website. Impressions climb while visits fall. Your site now works before anyone arrives. It feeds AI Overviews, ChatGPT answers, and Perplexity citations. I do not make the rules. 🤷 For your static site, that is not a threat. It is your existing workflow.

SEO on a static SaaS site still works. But AI search changed where buyers start. 51% of B2B buyers now begin research in a chatbot more often than in Google. Ranking first no longer decides it. Getting cited inside the AI answer does.

Google now lets readers pick your site as a "preferred source." Those readers then see your content flagged with a badge in Top Stories, AI Mode and AI Overviews. It is optional, and it asks something of you first. My thoughts.

AI tools cite other websites when they describe your company. A study of 1,851 sources found brand-owned pages made up 2.8% of citations. You can fix that.

Comparison table titled 'humans vs robots', with columns for humans (👨‍💻) and robots (🤖). Read the docs — humans: rarely; robots: mostly. Mistakes — humans: rarely the same one twice; robots: the same one endlessly. Persistence — humans: very low to medium; robots: medium to (too) high. Trainable — humans: highly variable; robots: consistent good. Creative — humans: variable; robots: consistently low. Says 'I don't know' — humans: sometimes; robots: never. Accountability — humans: usually, except billionaires; robots: no.

Am in the process of rewriting the Spinal CMS (see spinalcms.com) homepage. For very long the headline was along the lines "Minimal and beautiful CMS for static site generators". This was mostly done with a SEO focus. But these are two contradicting things: minimal (less) and beautiful (more).

Most of your blog’s traffic isn’t human. Sad, but true. 🥲 And since LLMs were introduced it even got worse. robots.txt was the answer to block (behaving) bots, and it still is. At Spinal we base ours off of github.com/ai-robots-tx... If you want to read more spinalcms.com/blog/20/ ✌️
