Cville peeps, this is not a drill, it's a winnable campaign! Dems have an awesome candidate and the wind at our back. Here's how to get involved and help flip our congressional district👇🏽

Loop de Ville was a blast. Cameo by Mayor Wade and Peter Krebs (Thank you Peter for all your work!). Plus I saw a first for me....a snake swimming with a fish on its head.

@creighdeeds.bsky.social and I attended the Justice is Community Summit. The real rockstars were the folks in the room who I see year after year, doing VERY hard work to create better futures for those exiting prison. Commonsense approaches to reduce barriers to jobs, housing, and healthcare. 🌅

I can’t recall the phrase…something about control disguised as altruism. I remember scrambling for a Dominion electric bus grant with ACPS in 2019. We got 2. The scarcity we’re made to compete for is often by design. The VCEA was being negotiated that same year. 👀 Go figure. I’m over the tactics.

What happened at ACPS is tragic and terrible. We are all in this together and need to do everything we can to protect children better in the future. An independent investigation is the next step. We need clarity so we can work to fix what is broken.

Chair Berlin and Distinguished Members of the Albemarle County School Board,
Our legislative offices are closely following the recent arrests of two Albemarle County Public School employees for terrible crimes committed against children. Every child should be safe in school and every parent and community member should expect and ask for no less. Schools, in particular, are places that must be safe and trusted so that our next generation can learn and flourish free from fear, trauma, or abuse. Protecting our children is the number one priority and one that cannot be taken for granted; we know you feel the same.
For this reason, we call on you to secure a timely, independent investigation of the circumstances surrounding the cases. Our offices have heard numerous concerns about the lack of parental notification, confusion about the legality of public reporting, the possibility that prior reports of inappropriate behavior were ignored, and unsupervised adult access to vulnerable students. These concerns must be thoroughly examined, as should the overall handling of the cases. The resulting report will help us better identify what policies or legislative remedies are needed to ensure our schools remain trusted spaces for our children to learn and teachers to teach. The victims of these crimes deserved protection that came too late; we must do all that we can to protect them and others moving forward.
Thank
