I actually think we should have regulatory agencies that keep our food safe, but I guess that’s a crazy idea to some people!

Katie @katiege.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
So selling raw milk should be legal?? That’s crazy.

Katie @katiege.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Facebook could shut down raw milk sales using their site. That would make an actual difference.

Katie @katiege.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
She’s already on a mission to try to stop other parents from making the same mistake she did, so no, blaming her doesn’t accomplish anything at all. Forcing this farmer out of business would make an actual difference. Banning the sale of raw milk would make an actual difference.

Katie @katiege.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Seriously! I wouldn’t have to spend so much time in meetings at work listening to people go ON AND ON AND ON about how much they love ChatGPT

Katie @katiege.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Obviously the mom messed up, but the point is that the farmer committed a crime, is facing no consequences, and the entire system of raw milk is continuing to make people sick. Blaming this one mom for being stupid doesn’t fix that.
100
Katie @katiege.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
I never said the mom didn’t know it was raw milk, but the farmer lied about testing it for pathogens and should no longer be allowed to sell milk.
000
Katie @katiege.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
If you read the article you’d know the farmer is a woman and that she lied about the tests she’d done on the milk, and that she has faced no consequences and is still allowed to sell milk. That’s the real problem here—she’s still in business.
100
Katie @katiege.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
No, they shouldn’t be allowed to sell raw milk either.
110
Katie @katiege.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Farmers shouldn’t be allowed to sell and profit from unsafe products, period
100
Katie @katiege.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
You clearly didn’t read the article so I’m not sure why you’re weighing in
200
Katie @katiege.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
I don’t think the parents should be seen as the real perpetrators—the farmer committed an actual, malicious crime and the parents made a foolish mistake.
100
Katie @katiege.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Yeah, the goat farmer is a liar who is making kids sick, and she’s getting away with it
010
Katie @katiege.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
I agree, consumers should be able to trust that products sold as food are safe to consume
020
Katie @katiege.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
So you think it’s fine for dangerous products to be sold, because it’s the fault of the dumb people who buy them? Products sold and marketed as food should be safe for consumption. The farmer should face consequences for that. So should the chiropractor.
100
Katie @katiege.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
I’m saying the farmer should face consequences, and for some reason everyone cares more about punishing the mom and wants to let this farmer keep profiting off of making people sick. The mom has stopped buying raw milk but the farmer is still selling it. The farmer should be banned from selling milk
120
Katie @katiege.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Can any of the people in this thread read? Go read the article before commenting.
000
Katie @katiege.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
She lied about the tests she was performing and told consumers her product was safe for children to consume. I don’t understand why people want to let her off the hook for that. I would never buy or drink raw milk but I still think producers shouldn’t be allowed to lie to consumers.
120
Katie @katiege.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
If you read the article, the farmer lied to the mother about her practices and assured her the milk was safe for children. The mother messed up, but the farmer is knowingly sickening multiple children by selling poison.

The way the Cornell victim is being publicly disbelieved by a lot of journalists, officials, and online posters is also a warning shot to every other victim not to dare to actually pursue a case against your rapist lest you suffer the same fate. It’s a means of protecting the status quo

Socially and in the legal system, our understanding of responses to sexual violence is purposefully uninformed and therefore limited to only “perfect” victims (who don’t really exist), so that we don’t have to actually combat sexual violence or believe victims or hold perpetrators accountable.

Yes, and the idea in the subhead isn't even true--help paying for childcare doesn't appeal to "most of the country"? Only rich people in blue cities pay for childcare? Do they think daycare doesn't exist in the rest of the US, or that working class parents don't rely on it?

the horrific cornell gang rape case has me thinking about emma sulkowicz who alleged she was raped as a student at columbia in 2014 and never got any justice. it has me thinking about the physical and mental weight young women are forced to carry while their safety is subsumed by male potential.

@chabeli.bsky.social with a big story out today about the $60B baby product market — and the grip it has on new parents. Surprising probably none of you: Americans account for roughly 10% of all global baby product revenue though it’s home to just 4% of the world population. How did we get here?

Agreed--once a book or series has been adapted fairly faithfully already, it's more interesting to see a fresh take than the same thing again! Idk anything about this adaptation but I'm intrigued.
